I am divorced and my ex-wife really did a number on my credit. It only takes 1 week to completely destroy your credit but it takes 10 years to rebuild it. I am on year 6, so needless to say it is not very easy for me to get credit anywhere. I saw an advertisement on TV about a "CRAZY 88" Auto sale. This was what I had been waiting for, WOW, Only $88.00 down and $88.00 a month, what a great deal and further more, as they continue with this advertisement, "EVERYONE" is approved regardless of your past credit history... WOW, I was so excited, finally a way to help improve my credit and get the car I needed to help me get back and forth to work.
So I called the number who then sent me to a website to fill out a form, then they sent my form to the dealers who was participating in this event. 2 days later I get a call from J.D. Byrider, in indianapolis on the west side. They said and I quote "Sir everyone is approved and we will get you in the car you want for only $88.00 down and $88.00 a month, all you got to do is come on in and fill out the paperwork."
I drove 58 miles from shelbyville to the north/west side of indianapolis (and you know the gas prices these days) I got there they sat me down at a desk and started the process, I was still excited. After 2 hours of questions and paperwork and not to mentions the all great "12 References" of anyone I ever knew in my whole life, they proceeded to tell me that it was only $88.00 a month for the first 3 months, then I had to pay $340.00 a month from there out. Now I am no rocket scientist but if I could afford $340.00 a month for a car, I would be driving a 2007 Trail Blazer.
So I continue since no one else will give me credit, I move on with the application process. 30 minutes later (Now being 2 hours and 30 minutes into this process) they precede to tell me they can not qualify me for the $88.00 a month as my credit is not good enough. I asked them "isn't that what you guys do, help repair my credit, isn't that the big picture you know (J.D. to the rescue), that what the commercials are all about let us help you get back on track with the car of your dreams". They said I would need to come up with $500.00 down then they could help me out, so I left with my $88.00 in my pocket and in my old beat up car I came with, minus the gas money I spent to go all this way.
Disappointed, I went home. One week later I went to some local car lots, none of them would help me but someone said they knew a guy in columbus that could. So i gave my number out to have them contact me. He did and his name was Scott Cook from... guess where... J.D. Byrider, this time a columbus office. I was not as excited this time around and was a lot more cautious about all of it.
Scott precedes to tell me that he can get me in a car for only $20.00 down, this time I was skeptical about the whole thing, I kept asking him over and over again " are you sure you can approve me? Is it guaranteed that if I spend the gas to come out there you WILL APPROVE ME and I WILL DRIVE OUT IN THE CAR OF MY CHOICE FOR $20.00 DOWN" Yes he said yes, yes, yes sir I guarantee it.
So in desperate need for a car I go to Columbus. I get there we go through the same exact paperwork as before, I add the "12 References" then 2 hours later they tell me "we can not get you approved at all because your budget can not afford a $340.00 car payment." Wow, where did this $340.00 car payment come in and how am I NOT APPROVED at a company that guarantees everyone approval. They said well with a larger down payment maybe we could do something more for you.
Lets see I was declined because they ran a budget report on me and it said I couldn't afford $340.00 a month so how am I gonna afford $500.00 Down PLUS $340.00 a month....?? Oh I thought ok with a larger down payment it will drop my monthly rates.. thats how right?... NOPE still pay $340.00 a month.. So tell me how does this make sense?
To make a long story short, I have applied at J.D. Byrider twice and both times was promised... GUARANTEED APPROVAL... and still denied. This is not a company who is interested in helping people better their credit as they state on TV and other ads, instead this is a company that will do most anything just to get your money... even lie over and over again.
Buyer be cautious if your looking for credit you will not get it there, as most people who can afford $340.00 are those who already have credit. J.D. Byrider has not rescued me from anything.
