I own a 94 Pontiac Formula. I have had to replace the distributer module twice already due to failure. I was told by the local pontiac dealerships that this was a bad design because it's suseptable to water, both from the weather and possibly from the water pump, which causes this part to fail.

I was also told that there is nothing I can do about it except replace it every time it goes out. Between parts and labor it costs an average of $1500 to replace. Too costly for me. I sure wish Pontiac would come up with a fix for this very defective part.

Dig a little deeper

This design flaw in the "distributor" was fixed in the 1995 model year. The weep holes in the bottom of the crank trigger were replaced with a vent tube. The differences between the front engine cover of a 1994 LT1 and a 1995 LT1 are very minor I would switch the parts and you should not have this problem again.

Defective distributer module

Joe from Kansas. Is there any additional hardware I need to purchase? What kind of mods need to be made? I still think Pontiac should have stepped up to the plate and recalled this. If the fix is that simple and the part is interchangeable. Thanks.
