Seems that Pep Boys has found a new revenue stream.

They're harvesting your phone numbers from customer work orders, and selling them to caroffer.com I was amazed to get a recorded call from caroffer.com 2/25/2008 Friday evening at about 8PM, wanting to know if I wanted to sell my car. This call was on a number listed on the donotcall.gov database. I listened and decided to press 1, to talk to a rep. He explained that they had teamed up with Pep boys and are calling Pep boys customers. I explained the number was on the donotcall list. He was more then happy to remove it from the database. Pepboys and Caroffer.com / Lanelogic Inc. do in fact have some kind of business working relationship. It really chaps my butt that PepBoys would stoop that low to sell my phone number, for use in telemarketing....

I hope they got more then a dollar for the number, because they lost me as a customer!

Was it worth it PepBoys???

I used the Pep Boys Tire Rebates

Hello. Someone at the store should have told you that one of the requirements for the rebate is to purchase the "Road Hazard Warranty" not an extended warranty. I bought the Michelin tires for my BMW and the Continental tires for my suv, and got both rebates. Whoever at that rebate place you called told you about an extended warranty needs to be retrained! The associates at the store told me about the road hazard warranty. They told me it covers repairing a flat tire, and the mounting and rebalancing of my tires, as long as there is tread on them. The store I went to didn't mail in my rebate form for me, but they did fill it out for me.

Caroffer Pepboys Free Offer

I read a report of a Pepboys customer who was upset that someone called him about trying to sell his car. His number was on the do not call list. He was very upset and felt that Pepboys was trying to use him in some manner.

Caroffer gives FREE cash offers over the internet. I have used the service and was called in the same manner. I was trying to sell my car and gave them my phone number. I could have just listed my email if I did not want to be contacted by phone.

If YOU initiate contact and give out your information for a product or a service, I don't understand why you would be upset when a representative uses the information YOU provided to contact you.

They should inform their customers and

offer to 'OPT-OUT" of any such "business relationships."

""If YOU initiate contact and give out your information for a product or a service, I don't understand why you would be upset when a representative uses the information YOU provided to contact you. ""

The OP did NOT initiate contact-they called the OP after getting the phone number from Pep Boys!

""It really chaps my butt that PepBoys would stoop that low to sell my phone number, for use in telemarketing.... ""

Indeed. They very least they could do is tell you what they will do with your phone number and afford you the opportunity to OPT-OUT-that the phone number is NOT to be shared.
