I found this website when searching for Dealer Warranty Services in order to post a warning concerning this company. This complaint will also serve as a sort of rebuttal to the gentleman who suggested that they only send a card and do not harrass people or are dishonest...

I received a First Notice and Second Notice from Dealer Warranty Services telling me that my warranty was about to run out. Since these cards arrived 6 months prior to the manufacturers warranty I ignored them. I then received a Final Notice telling me that my warranty had in fact expired. Again, this did not add up, my husband then noted that he at least, would not have bought a car with just the manufacturers warranty and was sure that we or I had bought an extended warranty.

I next called Dealer Warranty Services and they did in fact tell me my warranty expired, they had my name, my VIN # and the make & model of my car, which still disturbs me. Oddly enough however, which was another red flag, they did not have the correct address that the car was registered to. I was assured by the gentleman I spoke with, (whose name I will not print here but was included in my formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau and Consumers Affairs and the Attorney General of the State of Missouri) that I was operating my 2005 vehicle without a warranty and that time was of the essence. He then chose to attempt to sell me a 6 year (through 2014)-75,000 mile warranty at the reduced price of $2,695.00. With only $419 or thereabouts down and $189 a month.

I then called my dealer who assured me that my initial manufacturers warranty was in fact still in effect through August 2008 and that my extended warranty would then be in effect through 2012/60,000 miles.

Had there not been a few minor red flags I may have fallen for this and purchased what I did not need. What happens to the young guy or girl that buys their first car without any assistance on input from their parents? What happens to the senior citizen who knows nothing about cars or any number of myriad people who would get spooked?

Yes, their practices are deceitful and underhanded, despite the rebuttal on this website. Yes they did attempt to hand me a bald-faced lie.

In addition I'd like to add that my dealer was less than happy and took all information that I had on this company.

Do not allow Dealer Warranty Services to sell you anything, speak with your dealer.

Dealer Warranty Services takes all complaints seriously and we attempt to handle them in a professional business manner. The customer did received several postcard mailings concerning an expired warranty on her vehicle. The post cards do stress a sense of urgency (automotive breakdowns do create urgency), but this is only an offer to purchase an extended warranty. All mailings are based on third party vendor information which may or may not be completely accurate.

Automotive warranties are traditionally 3years or 36,000 miles and since her vehicle was a 2005 one could conclude that it stands a high probability of being expired or approaching expiration. All information is verified through the customer once they contact the business to inquire about an extended warranty.

That is why the sales representative will ask the customer the make, model, year of the vehicle followed by the VIN. The customers VIN number is unknown until it is provided by the customer. Was she the original owner of the vehicle? We do not know if any customer has purchased an extended warranty policy prior to an actual conversation. If this is the case the customer will be removed from our mailing list within 90 days. As a quality assurance measure all conversations are recorded and can be replayed for the customer. We did not attempt to hand you a bald face lie. And nor do we take advantage of any customers lack of knowledge concerning purchasing an extended warranty.

False that the customer can review the recordings!! I asked that and they told me now that we can not so that. Also, it happen to me and my car is a 2007 and she said that my warranty was expiring when it wasn't. Also, they pretended to be part of the dealership when they are not. Also the Federal Trade Commission states that warranty is something you buy at the time of purchase for the car. Extended warranty is really a service contract! You can see that on their website. So stop lying to people because eve the government is stating that your lying!!! Dealers Warranty Service is a complete scam!
