Most likely you were not declined due to your credit, but something showed up on Cheksystems or some similar service. If it was due to your credit, the bank would have been required by law to disclose the name of the bureau that provided them the info they used to make their decision, and you would have been entitled to a free credit report from that bureau based on your decline.
If you did not receive any information to this effect, then it had nothing to do with your credit. If you have ever had a bank account closed overdrawn or charged off, written a bad check, or a laundry list of other reasons in regard to mishandling a bank account, you could be on Cheksystems or a similar service and this is probably why you were declined. In any case, you should have been provided the reason for the decline and contact information either for a credit bureau or Cheksystems.
If you are wanting to be removed from the mailing lists, you will need to write to the following address: Bank of America Executive Relations, 100 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28255. It may take some time to be processed, but you will be removed.
