Several months ago Compubank began placing a banner on the login page that said they had been acquired by "Netbank". They stated a smooth transition would follow, and that everything would be seamless. Yesterday (5/13/01), I went to the grocery store, and my ATM card did not work. ( My balance is about $1,200.00). So I went home, and tried to log on. I was sent to the Netbank site, where when I logged on, I received a message stating my account information was not available, and was referred to a phone number.

When I called the number I was informed that my account was under review, and I would have to call back in the morning. This a.m. (5/14/01), I began trying to call the number. It was busy most of the day, but I was persistent, and ultimately got through to "customer service." They could only tell me that my account was in review, and transferred me to another number.

The other number was a recording that stated all lines were busy, and that I should try again later. It took three calls( each time I waited in a line for anywhere between 14, and twenty minutes. I know this, because I was on my cell phone, $.40/ minute, and it shows on the LCD.), but I was finally put through to a voice mail! I called back, was adamant, and was told by a somewhat worn out, and frazzled customer service person that the dept I needed to talk to went home for the day, and I should try again tomorrow.

When I asked if I was the only one, she said emphatically NO! Every cent I have to my name is in that account, they provided no warning, no options! they just cut me off, and perhaps many, many others?! Is this legal? I suspect this a ploy to hold on to my money, and that of perhaps numerous others for some period of time. This action can be described by only one word... dastardly.
