This bone-head company sent me a platinum visa when I did NOT apply for credit and did NOT authorize them to do so!

It all started with phone calls from 605-782-5252 on 6/14, 6/15, 6/16, 6/18, and the last phone call on 6/19 when he caught me. He said he was from Wells Fargo Financial and was VERY aggressive in trying to offer me a credit card and trying to verify my personal information.

I told him - several times - that I'm declining the offer and was NOT interested. He completely disregarded my wishes and continued to push the card by saying I was pre-approved. I told him I didn't have time to talk about it as I was heading back to work from lunch. AGAIN he ignored my comments and said "I just need to verify some information..." and I told him I'm not comfortable giving that out as I didn't approach them for credit.

*WARNING: I had one card with them YEARS ago but they STILL have all my personal information and are using it!*

He ended the call by saying he'll call me when I get off work so we could go over the terms and "don't forget to give me your bank account information. I'll mail you the package." That evening I logged onto one of the credit reporting agencies and filed a Fraud Alert. I was sure this small step would prevent credit companies from using any of my information to get credit.

Today, 6/29/07, the card came in the mail and I am FURIOUS to say the least. I cannot believe they pulled a stunt like this. We're not all stupid consumers who don't know our rights. They need to keep in mind that some of us have worked in the financial industry and KNOW the steps it takes to ASK FOR and get credit. They should also realize that some of us have moved on to other careers, with the Department of Law. As is the case for me.

They think we're stupid but they have another thing coming.
