House Of Brides sold my daughter a sample gown when they charged her full price for a brand new gown. Oak Lawn Illinois

I never realized how horrible of an operation the House of brides stores are. When my daughter was getting married last year, they sold her a bridal gown designed by Maggie Sottero. They took her measurements and told her that a new gown would arrive in six months. After six months of waiting and three weeks before the wedding, the gown never came in. We called and called and, of course, only a recorder would answer our calls. Finally after we went into the store screaming, the manager came out. She told us the gown would arrive in two days. We went back there in two days and she brought out the sample gown that my daughter tried on six months earlier. The gown had ink marks and dirt all over it. The manager looked us straight in the face and told us it was brand new and they are not responsible how the manufacturers ship their gowns. The ink mark was right in the front where you can't hide it. She told us to hold the bouquet closer to it and no one would see it. Of course, we had no choice but to take the gown two weeks before the wedding. We found out later that none of the House of Brides stores are authorized distributors for Maggie Sottero gowns. This means that they did not order nor receive a new gown from them because Maggie would no longer ship them any gowns. They gave my daughter the dirty sample because they couldn't get her a new gown. This can be confirmed by contacting Maggie Sottero. They do not do business with any of the House of Brides stores and HOB was selling out their samples and passing them off as brand new gowns. Shame on them for destroying the most important day in my daughter's life. Shame on every public service office, including the Better Business Bureau, that allows them to continue to operate and this low level and not do anything to stop them. The wedding is long time over, but everytime I remember what happened, it makes me sad. I came across this rip-off report and thought I would share our horrible experience with everyone, late as it may be, to help other brides and advise them to stay away from this horrible place.
