Protect yourself
If you or someone you know are planning on doing any type of Windows, Doors or Siding, Be absolutely sure you stay Away from Barrier Windows http://www.barrierwindow.com.

They provided terrible windows, doors and siding. The quality is awful and the doors and windows leak. The now rusting ‘sheet rock screws' (that's right sheet rock screws) that were used to install the brass kick plates, hardware, hinges, stops to hang heavy exterior doors are disintegrating and falling off not to mention all the permanent rust stains. The installation was very poor and the so-called warranty is non-existent.

I have spent countless hours and it's been several years wasted trying to get the doors and windows they put in my home repaired or replaced to no avail. I even offered to install them myself if I could get any replacement parts. I have many pictures of the damaged areas, rotten wood, ruined carpets and sub floors that had to be repaired or replaced they were so rotten. There is mold growing in places where you can actually see the water dripping in through most, if not all the doors. There is serious problem with this Barrier Window System Company. So please, please save you money and choose a different company. Choose a reputable, honest company that you can count on. Whatever you do stay as far away from the Barrier Windows in New York State, you will thank yourself someday. see the proof here

"Justice" is in fact Robert Cargen.......Barrier has never sold this gentleman any product. We have, in fact, sold the prior owner of the house Mr. Cargen purchased in Little Falls window and doors only. Any warranties on our products at that time were not transferable.

Barrier did not do the siding at this address, so, therefore, cannot be held responsible for the siding problems.

Barrier did inspect the door installation as did a representative from the door manufacturer...the determination was that the doors were not maintained and snow conditions allowed for the ice build up during the winter months.

We are forwarding this complaint to our attorney for a possible slander lawsuit.

As a follow up to our rebuttal of December 24, 2008, we wish to inform you that we did refer this matter to our attorney for review. Our attorney has recommended we not pursue a slander lawsuit against Mr. Cargen notwithstanding his false statements concerning our company. However, our attorney wished us to advise you of the following:1. Mr. Cargen has never purchased any products from our company. If he claims otherwise then he should immediately produce his proofs of purchase. 2. Approximately eight years ago, the prior owner of the property purchased doors and windows from our company which came with a limited warranty issued to the "original purchaser" only. The warranty is nontransferable per the manufacturer. 3. At no time was there any siding purchased from us or installed by us at this address. 4. The doors and windows were installed to the landowners satisfaction as evidenced by documents in our possession which the landowner signed. At no time did the landowner ever complain to us about the quality and workmanship of our products. 5. Upon first learning of Mr. Cargen's complaints, we requested, at our cost, that a representative of the manufacturer evaluate the situation. According to this representative, any problems with the doors were due to Mr. Cargen's or the prior owner's nonmaintenance and failure to remove snow during the winter season. This information was communicated to Mr. Cargen who has apparently chosen to attack us through your website.

Our company strives to satisfy our clients. We proudly honor all warranties issued to our customers. Quite simply, this disgruntled individual was never our customer. If he has proof to the contrary then let him produce it.

First of one of the main reasons we bought our home was the fact that it had a warranty on all the windows and doors. They had just been installed many within the past 3 years. The homeowner was told By barrier windows that it had this warranty. I also called barrier about some windows that were broken and a door which had molding that was warped and bent from the sun. they came and fixed it and said yes it is under warranty. They also came to look at my other doors that were leaking and tried to fix it. at this point they decided that they were starting to loose profits and stopped all warranty on the products and said it never had a warranty and gave me the run around for many many months ,now years. I have carbon copies of all the installs of the windows and doors signed by barrier windows. and many pictures. barrier says they no longer offer transferable warranties on their windows and doors which they told me they did by several of their sales reps and tech people.

I actually had a sales rep come here here to my home to get me to photocopy some of the letters and documents form barrier and the sales manager there. Barriers field reps couldn't believe their eyes and asked if I would gave them a photo copy to show to their other workers. They said barrier was trying to get out of having to replace and bad windows and doors which they knew they should be replacing. Even the actual door and window manufacturers I called and said barrier windows of westmoreland ny should be taking care of my warrantied products and me and they are not. I even have letters from the original owner who is a chemical engineer who offered to sign any leagal depositions supporting my claims aginst barrier windows. He also called barrier windows and was lied to again. Barrier is scam and and they will try to deny it here and other places. The fact is these windows and doors were only a couple of years old and should not be failing like they were and are warranty or not! Do yourself a favor and find some other company for your windows and doors

He was sent to the Oneida County Jail on $5,000 bail.

The vast majority of the companies we do business with offer transferable warranties. You fill out a sheet, the next person in line fills out part of the same sheet, and it's done.

Just for future reference.
