Our Statewide sunroom has always been poorly insulated. It is hot during the summer and cold during the winter. The worst problem is that rainfall makes such a deafening sound that the room is completely unusable during rain.

We called Statewide and explained our problem. The lady who answered the phone said that several Statewide customers have had shingles put on their roofs. We asked if Statewide installed shingles and how much it cost. She said that Statewide could install shingles on our sunroom roof for $3,000.00. Due to the very high cost, we decided to install the shingles ourselves.

In October we installed shingles on our Statewide sunroom. The shingles considerably lessened the sound of the rain and provided much better insulation in the sunroom. The first time we had a heavy rain, our roof leaked in at least three places, including in one of the ceiling fans. We called Statewide and described the problem. Statewide sent a repairman by the name of Michael Wilkins to examine the problem. When he came and heard that we had installed the shingles ourselves, he told us that we had voided our warranty by installing the shingles ourselves. He also said that we had installed the shingles incorrectly.

On February 24, 2006, at around 16:30, we called Statewide to explain the problem. We told Carrie, the lady who answered the phone, that Statewide had never told us that we would void our warranty by installing the shingles ourselves. Carrie said that she would talk to her production manager and then call us back in about ten minutes. Carrie never called us back.

On February 28, 2006, Michael Wilkins called. He said that his boss wanted him to call and explain that our sunroom warranty was still valid but that the sunroom warranty for the roof was void. Mr. Wilkins said that Statewide could not repair the problem because we had installed the shingles ourselves.

i talked to this customer..they left that out of their rip off report? the only warranty that was voided was for leaking because of the faulty shingles they installed the wrong way. they didn't want to pay to have them done professionaly then they want my company to warranty their work? how does that work? statewide didn't do they work !!!! they did so they can fix it!! i sent a job foreman out to inspect their work & he told them that the problem was the way they installed the shingles. i didn't even have to do that & i could have voided their whole warranty but we didn't. wE are the ones that got ripped off by their lies!! they filed this complaint with the Austin BBB & after hearing both sides of the story they told this customer statewide was in the right. it's too bad the rip off web site dosen't require both sides of the story before posting the complaint. it would appear they don't seek the truth just whatever some disgrunteld consumer wants to cry about! oh & the reason their room is hot in the summer & cold in the winter is because these people wouldn't buy the heating & cooling unit for the room. i wonder if their house has air conditioning? probably not & they blamed that on the builder. somebody needs to tell this folks you get what you pay for

Thanks Frank
