Before purchasing a laminate flooring, I did exhaustive research and paid more for the Formica product because of its all-inclusive warranty. They showed me a glass of water attached to two laminate planks and said "this floor will not swell." The warranty covers everything -- even if your house floods.
My house did not flood but my floor swelled around the refrigerator within two months of installation. When I made a claim, I was told that the warranty had "changed." The Formica inspector came, telling me that it was impossible to tell where the water is leaking until they ripped up the floor. Then they denied the claim, stating the water was coming from the refrigerator.
I was told by the retailer I should make a claim on my homeowners policy. When buying a laminate floor - DON'T FALL FOR THE WARRANTY SCAM CONDUCTED BY FORMICA. The product sucks and the company is dishonest. I have learned I am not the only victim of Formica's failure to keep its word.
