Wow! I checked this company because I had a bad experience and now I know I'm not the only one. A guy came to my door and claimed that the meat was the same as LongHorn and that they had some leftover. It looked fine in the package but it was bad when I opened it. I called the Atlanta number and they said that they would come out and pick up the meat. I got suspicious and cancelled my check. They never came after the meat.

Two months later they called from St. Petersburg and "Cathy" (who would not give me her last name and claimed to be the owner) said they she would sue me if I didn't pay for the meat. I called the 877 number and found out that the owner's name is Steve James but according to his assistant he is always too busy to speak to a customer. I got ripped off!

Customer satisfaction is our #1 Priority!

As the Operations Manager for Direct USA I can assure you that the products we sell are USDA inspected and packaged in Government Inspected facilities. I will be perfectly honest and say that there have been some complaints in the past regarding our steaks. We have changed the company that we purchase our steaks from and no longer have any quality issues on our products. Direct USA has been in business for 10 years in February 2008 and has become a leader in the home delivery industry.
I apologize for any quality issues and assure you that we strive for 100% Customer satisfaction.
Please feel free to review our product Guarantee as well as our current product list at www.directusafoods.com.
Thank you,
Bill D.

NO THIS LADY SHOULD HAVE CALLED CORPORATE TO LET THEM KNOW THE PRODUCT WAS BAD. SHE NEVER CALLED ANYONE AND DECIDED SHE DIDN'T WANT THE PRODUCT ANYMORE AND STOP PAYMENT ON A CHECK. WHEN YOU STOP PAYMENT ON A CHECK IT IS THE SAME AS BOUNCING A CHECK. I AM SURE IF SHE WAS A BUSINESS OWNER SHE WOULD WANT THE CUSTOMERS PAYING FOR THE PRODUCTS THEY RECEIVED. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY IS A VERY BUSY MAN AND RUNS 17 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN VARIOUS STATES AND ALL OF HIS EMPLOYEES. FOR AS MUCH PRODUCTS THAT IS SOLD THROUGH THIS COMPANY THERE ARE ONLY THE FEW COMPLAINTS THAT YOU SEE. GET OVER IT LADY AND JUST PAY FOR THE CHECK YOU BOUNCED.

i am sorry for your bad experience

I am sorry that you had a bad experience with the company. I know for a fact the owner of the company tells all his staff that costumer service complaints need to be taken careof asap and he enforces that all the time. Direct USA is all over the country and has over 30 stores nationwide and they wouldnt get that big if the food wasnt good. If you would have called coorparate within a timely manner they would have taken care of your complaint. If you still have the meat you can talk to coorparate and they will come out and replace the meat with anything else you would like to try. They just got in a new meat package that is USDA choice and its awesome. They also have prok, chicken and seafood. I dont want you feeling like you got scammed or taken advantage of because thats not right and I know thats not how Direct likes their costumers feeling. If you still have the meat and would be willing to give them another chance I hope you do. Just let coorporate know the situation and they will take care of it. as far as the comment from the ex-employee I think that he the conartist.

Direct USA is not out to con people they are there to give people a great deal on quality meat at a wholesalers price. The comments that the ex employer are not factual and I think are made out of anger not facts. Please don't let an angry ex-employer's opinion and untruthful comments hold any weight in this situation. And as far as he licensing Direct USA has all of the proper permits and licenses for that state and city in which they sell to and only approved drivers with active driver licenses are allowd to drive the company vehicles. It sounds to me that the ex-employer is just trying to give a bad name to a company because he couldn't handle the job. If you still have the meat I asked that you please try coorporate and I'm sure they can help you.

Just another victim

I am a former "employee" of Direct USA. The individual who posted the rebuttal before me is obviously a current employee. Let me explain the business... The company buys this product from large distributers. This product is the "bottom of the barrell" stuff that cannot be sold to restaurants or other stores because of it's low quality. It is needled with tenderizers, and packaged in "pretty" boxes to look good. The case (or six small boxes" is released to independent contractors on consignment for approx. $99. The salesman then knocks on doors and gives the "overstock" or "canceled order" spiel to the unsuspecting customer. They usually sell the case for between $145 and $250. The product is sold under the guise that it's "restaurant quality". The salesman then goes to cash the customer's check ASAP. To cancel the order is nearly impossible, even though the law states that a consumer has three days to do so.

Most cities and communities have laws concerning solicitation. Permits are usually required, and solicitation after dark or 9pm is not allowed. Make sure to ask to see this permit if one of these jokers comes to your door. If they don't have one, call the police. Another thing: in my time with this company, I have learned that most of the "salesmen" have "habits" (drug and alcohol use). Be careful in dealing with them. Also, a note to law enforcement: the majority of these guys do not have valid driver's licenses, and quite a few have outstanding wants and warrants. Their vehicles can be easily identified, as they are usually pick-up trucks with chest freezers in the back.

For victims of these "con-artists": the easiest and best way to get your money back, is to contact your state's attorney general. Advising local media seems to be effective as well.

Amber, why is it that...

Amber, if your statements are true, then why, in my short time with this company, did three separate employees get arrested on three separate occasions, each for driving without a valid driver's license and drug charges? Why is it that every door that I "hit" tell me the same thing: that door to door meat was horrible? Why is it that when I tried the product, it was horrible? Why is it that none of your salesmen had ANY respect for "NO SOLICITING" signs on people's houses? Or why NONE of them had any business permits for the towns/cities that they worked in? Can you answer any of these questions for me?
