This company lists a certain digital SLR camera (body only) on their site. I needed the body only, as I am replacing a broken camera and already have the accessories.

I ordered the camera online.A representative called to "confirm" and tried to sell me additional items/different package. I delcined. Estimated shipping was 2 weeks since it was "out of stock".

Over two weeks later, I called to follow up on my order. I encountered someone who said his name was "Andy". "Andy" said status was still the same--2 to 4 weeks out.

In further discussion, I come to find out that while the camera will supposedly have the USA warranty, the camera menu will be in Japanese. That didn't make sense to me, and I said that. "Andy" insists that since I was buying the camera without any "accessories", it didn't include the menu in english and that thier website states that the camera does not come with any "accessories".

I cannot find any such information on their web site that indicates this.I asked to speak to a manager, as I wanted to make a suggestion about making that information clearer on their site.

"Andy" insisted that he was a supervisor and that "this is not a management issue. This is about "your" (me) not bothering to read their policy".

Not true. I read all the company policies and links to the camera before I ordered it. I also called the company before ordering to ask additional questions and to clarify a couple of things. (ie: the camera is listed with the USA warranty, yet when you add it to the shopping cart, a one-year warranty was listed as an option to purchase).

Anyway, "Andy" then starts shouting over me and tells me that since I didn't bother to read the site, he was cancelling my order. Excuse me? He then says that plenty of other people are waiting for this camera and that cancelling my order will benefit them. I tell him that I do not want the order cancelled. He yells that he is cancelling the order and "have a nice day" and hangs up on me.

I spent 15 years in sales and service, before opening and running my own successful business. I spent over 6 months researching this purchase, and even talked to Nikon directly to confirm that the camera I decided on did not need any software/firmware updates. I do not believe that I was at all rude, just asking for the company place clarification on the website.

It is my firm belief that this company does not intend to sell the item I wished to purchase at the price they listed--that they intend to package it with other items to up the price.

Update - possible credit card fraud - BestPriceCameras.com

Today I learned that within 24 hours of this company having "thrown a tantrum", being verbally abusive and cancelling my order, fraudulent charges to 3 other online companies began showing up against the credit card that I had supplied to them. Fortunately, the credit card company noticed the unusual activity and brought it to a halt at that point.

While I cannot absolutely prove that this is connected to this company at this time, the only other legit charges were to local businesses with whom I have done business with face to face, and for many years--and we shred all paper records before trashing them. The general "business practices" of this company lead me to be suspicious of the company and/or an employee. I will update as more is learned.

Credit card account is closed to prevent anything further, and reports have been filed with the FTC and now RipOffReports. Police report goes in in the morning on the credit card, and also a BBB complaint on the original problems.

These people are full of more manure than horse stables. He yanked you around by threatening to cancel your order. All the "accessories" come with the camera anyway, and the menu is english. [Many Japanese speak english so that would not be a problem in Japan.] No one will import a camera into USA with a Japanese menu. [You know Japanese or you don't. Most in USA don't.]

Surprise, surprise, Best Price Cameras.com got a glowingly negative review from a victim, I mean customer.
