The Merchant in this complaint is using 15 aliases (Prestige Camera, Preferred Photo, Camera Addict, Broadway Photo, Best Camera, Quest4cameras, etc...) and is practicing bait & switch selling tactics. You are not able to purchase the item at the advertised price unless you purchase unnecessary, overpriced, low quality accessories.
If you buy online, you get an email requiring you to call them. When you call you get a high pressure salesman. If you don't buy anything extra, you get an email telling you your item is mysteriously out of stock. Amazing you can go back on there website and it is again in stock. Free shipping is also very misleading.
I received a surprise $19.99 insurance charge when I bought a camera from them. If you try to return something, you have to return everything and pay an expensive restocking fee. This merchant has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB for the same reasons I described. Bizrate.com has a 100% negative rating for the month of December 2007, and over 84% negative for the year. Based on there high rating, I purchased from this merchant, and paid $179 for unnecessary accessories.
I tried to return the accessories and was told I had to return everything and pay an expensive restocking fee. This really hurts, because that's good money I can't spend on other family members this holiday. I am very dissatisfied with this merchant.
