The company called me saying that I was eligible to get software that would help me write a grant application. They said, "Everyone who has used our services has gotten more than the amount of grant money they thought they would get," or something like that. They argued with me for a while, trying to convince me that they weren't a scam. They got really frustrated and said they were trying to help me.
The phone rep. was clearly Indian, so I guess my white liberal guilt got to me and I felt bad thinking to myself that these were underpaid workers hired only because of their willingness to be underpaid. I gave them my bank acct. and then a few minutes after hanging up, I decided to search for the company name, and the address they gave me, on the internet. The company name was nowhere to be found, and sure enough, a similar address in Mesquite, on the same street showed up on this website.
The next day, I closed my bank account and opened a new one. Unfortunately, I don't remember their exact address or phone number. I must have thrown out the paper I wrote it down on. But, if any suspicious salesperson gives you an address in Mesquite, NV, especially if it is on Sandhill Rd, be careful. I'm lucky they didn't get a chance to take my money and run.
