My wife sent her wedding dress to a company called Prestige Gown Cleaning to have it cleaned and preserved. The cost was appoximately 400 dollars to have this done to her dress. The company had told my wife that the dress would be done in 6 months.

It is going on about 9 or 10 months and they keep making excuses. My wife called a couple of times after the 6 month period to see if the dress was done and when they would be sending the dress to us. They told her they found a spot and had to reclean the dress and it would go out when it was finished.

My wife called back about a month later and they replied they found another spot and it would go out in two weeks which was in February of 2000. I then called in February to see what progress they had made. They gave me the same story as my wife.

I called back on 03-02-00 and Roseanne told me that the dress was finished and they didn't have a box to send it out in. I called back on 03-10-00 and let them know that I would have someone pick the dress up because they didn't have a box. I then called back on 03-15-00 and let them know that I was very disappointed in their company and we would be contacting a lawyer.

Roseanne called back on 03-16-00 and was unsure what to do with the dress. Roseanne wasn't sure if she should mail it out or wait until I have someone pick the dress up. She assured me that the dress was done and ready to go. I told her I would have someone come and pick it up and when Fed-Ex arrived on 03-16-00 at 2pm New York time they told them to come back at 4 pm because the dress was not ready.

When Fed-Ex returned at 4 pm no one was at the place of business. I called Prestige twice on 03-20-00 to find out what happened on 03-16-00. I told the receptionist that I would have someone pick it up that day but she replied that the computers were down and they had no way to locate the dress.

The second call on 03-20-00 was to tell the receptionist to tell Roseanne to hold on to the dress and we would handle it through the court system. My wife called back on 04-10-00 to see what the statis was on her dress. They gave her the run around. I would appreciate it if you could help my wife and I out with this problem.

Updated news on the wedding dress. Well nothing is being done it seems like. My wife and I call Prestige the last week in may. Rose Ann told me that they were moving and all the shipment items were in the other building. She told me the dress would be sent out in two weeks. I told her that I would call back in three weeks to give them a little extra time. On June 5, 2000 my wife call to find out about the dress and found out that Prestige was sold to World Wide Cleaning.

They ensured my wife they still have the dress and it would be shiped the week of June 12, 2000. The week is here, I called and Rose Ann said that the dress should be in our hands by next week. I mentioned that I would keep calling until we had my wife's dress in our hands. She said she understood and would do the same if she were in my shoes.

Funny Rose Ann is not in our shoes so she couldn't possible understand what my wife is feeling. I told Rose Ann I didn't believe that Prestige didn't get bought out, that they just change their name. She assured me that was not the case and the dress will be in our hands the week of June 19, 2000. Lots of excuses from this company and they haven't even mentioned compansation for the hassle. What about a discount for their poor service. I think they might need the money for law suites that will be happening in the future.
