Found an alleged (LOCAL - and NOT International) very short call (!) made while in Amsterdam
charged (10 to 20 times normal pay phone rate and no warning) to my American Express card:

I learned from American Express that it has a standing agreement with BBG Communications to reverse charges immediately whenever a creditcard customer complains! Even without the customary investigation when disputing a charge. Long live American Express! Amex never fails me. Only takes one 2 minute phone call! As soon as Amex heard the BBG Communication name it reversed the charges!

BBG Communications apparently is counting on 9 out of 10 victims not bothering to complain.
The company's almost anonymous web site, http://www.bbgusa.com/altindex.html (under Company), boasts to its clients, hotels, airports etc., the following:

"BBG has also developed a unique expertise in the billing and collection process to maximize profitability in person-to-person calls."

San Diego Better Business Bureau has a very unsatisfactory report on this not accredited company: http://sandiego.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=26&bbb=1186&firm=1040993

File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

To all victims of BBG Communications, 800-5762118: File your complaints! Eventually the FTC or a Class Action will put them out of business.
