Hello,

I'm a musician, who aspires to be known.

Six weeks ago, I was watching late night TV. To my surprise, I saw a commercial for an upcoming talent expo in Atlanta, Ga. It was to include aspiring models, actors, and musicians. It was scheduled for April 4th & 5th. All you needed was $395 to attend. Keep this figure in mind, for I will elaborate on it later.

The commercial was put on by Dwight Agnor, who I've just found out is a scam artist who plays on people's hopes & dreams.

He promised that there would be over 50 leading record labels, managers & music publishers on hand and I would get to choose 10 to personally meet and have listen to our band's demo CD.

Sounded too good to be true... More on that later as well.

Anyway, gullible 'ole me sent the money (luckily only $175) to hold a spot for me and my bandmates. I thought, this was it...our chance to make it. Like I said, my hopes and dreams.

I'd already made hotel reservations and got psyched up to go.

Well, well, well...guess what I got in the mail today (3-27-03), one week before the expo ?

A letter was sent saying that the expo had been cancelled, due to the invasion of Iraq and the terror alert being high. Give me a !@#$% break. The NCAA Basketball Tournament is going on as scheduled. Didn't the Oscars go off without a hitch ?

This is a blatant scam, and I'm pissed that they used my aspirations against me. I hate that I got taken.

Oh, as far as the $395...those who sent the whole amount were only going to get refunded $220. The rest, $175 was a non-refundable deposit. Looks like I'm out $175. Thet's their scam.

If anyone feels the same way, perhaps we can get a class-action lawsuit going. I'm getting my money back someway.

It WAS too good to be true.

Sincerely...Pissed in Alabama.

The complaint filed by "Geoff" is baffling at best. Over 100,000 people have attended my model and talent search events over the past 15 years. It has always been made abundantly clear that there were no guarantees of any kind that any of these people would be selected by agents for representation. The fact is, however, that these search events have started the careers of more models, actors and children than any other scouting source in history.

The Atlanta expo was unique in that it was originally scheduled to take place in April of 2002 at the CNN Center. However, just one month prior to this scheduled event the USA invaded Iraq. Because terrorists were furious with the news coverage by CNN, many serious terrorists threats were being made against CNN and CNN Center. These threats were well documented, televised and written about by every major news source in America. We were advised by federal, state and local security experts that as a safety precaution we should reschedule the event, which we did.

All registered participants were notified and given the option to receive a full refund or to apply their non-refundable deposits towards the newly scheduled event in November of 2002. More than 200 participants did indeed cancel and were in fact refunded in full.

The baffling part of this complaint from "Geoff" is that he has failed to provide his full name or contact information. A careful review of our records shows that no one with the first name "Geoff" ever registered for the Atlanta expo event.

If this complaint is indeed legitimate he should have no reservations about fully and clearly identifying himself and providing documentation of his supposed participation in the Atlanta event.

Sincerely,

Dwight Agnor
