Answered unsolicited e-mail titled "freecreditreport", because our government allows 3 free credit reports a year. It wasn't free, I found out the next day, when I checked my on-line bank statement, which I do every day. I called immediately to their Customer Support, to complain, and to request a refund of my money, and was told there would be no refund. I then called my bank
(Wells Fargo) to put in a dispute.

While applying for this free credit report, they wanted my credit card numbers, which I wondered why, if the report was free. I had to supply this information in order to submit the application

A couple of days later, my bank phoned me to ask for details, and to set up a threeway conversation with their customer support. Their CS bamboozled my banker, that it was a legitiment transaction, and I was told that the bank could not help me. I am changing banks because of this.

Anyhow, I have made a couple of phone calls to their customer support to plead with them to refund the money to an 80 year old retiree. No luck!!

RE:

FreeCreditReport.com is a clever scam meant to trick people who don't take the time to read what they are signing up for....

It should be clear that any firm that asks for your credit card # is not going to provide a free service. Futhermore, there is a disclaimer on their website telling you that you'll be charged.....This company is laughing all the way to the bank....
