I didn't want to do a whole new thing, but we had the WORST experience with this company!
We hired him to DJ for our daughters Bat Mitzvah. The day of the event two girls show up- and were absolutely awful. They were girls that worked as tech people or something for another DJ company.
Eric told us there would be no problem, he would be there, etc. EVEN THE MORNING OF the event! (I hadn't been able to get ahold of him for several days and was really worried we wouldn't have anyone on that day) He never intended to be there- had told the guy from the other DJ company that he needed him days before.
It was awful. None of the songs we had chosen were there or played. They played some inappropriate songs so we had to check them on it. They played no games with the kids- didn't even speak to them. All of the kids talked about how awful it was.
When the girls had first walked in and said they were there to DJ I called Eric- no answer, called the guy from the other place. he assured me the girls would interact with our kids, have fun with them. he assured me. Nothing! It was ridiculous.
Never heard anything from Eric until months later when he tried to threaten to take me to court!
I was not surprised at all to see this here on the "rip off" report.
I too, have hired Eric Lara to DJ my wedding. Since July I have been trying to get a hold of him. My wedding is in 6 weeks. I have left a message, emailed several times, to which only one email was answered, but never responded too. My dad suggested looking him up on the internet and obviously this is how this guy operates. Luckily I have someone lined up as a back up. Thanks for posting this information for me and let me know how things turn out.
