After meeting Miss DePalma at a dog show, I purchased two puppies from her. Everything was fine at first - and then I noticed both dogs scratching continually and hair loss every where! The vet did skin scrapings and both dogs have Demodetic mange. Not the localized version, but all over their bodies. The male has skin allergies as well as the mange and has lost all his fur. The little bitch - was doing a funny gait - limping - taking the vets advice we did x-rays. She has no hip sockets and she is under a year of age. This will only get worse. FoxFire has been aware of everything that has happened along the way - vet visits, etc. I finally told her I wanted either my money back or the dogs replaced and she has refused. First she said I created my own problems and second said it was the food I fed that caused the severe HD of not one but both dogs as it turns out. Our vet wrote to her and she wrote back calling him a quack - said I was spreading lies about her - we are resigned to the fact that she won't refund our money, but would like people to know this woman is a crook.

I am a past purchaser of a FoxFire dog; very satisfied with my bitch; FoxFire Kim Possible.
DA Sally says:I met Jeannine DePalma at a show 3 years ago.We talked and after getting to know more about her I purchased 2 pups from her.
Jen says: This means that DA Sally met Jeannine in 2005; the next litter available after 2005 is the litter I got my girl from - early 2006. This was a small litter; 6 pups. Jeannine kept one female back, one female puppy is deceased as a livestock guard, one female is still guarding, one male is deceased, one male is a happy pet and one female is mine. All pups accounted for. In that litter; there weren't two pups ever sold together.
Next statement by DA Sally seems also suspect; I got a replacement puppy
from Jeannine DePalma of Central Asian Shepherds and that dog ended up having severe Hip Dysplasia.
Jen Says: Next litter was born in Feb 2007 - 4 pups; Jeannine kept a female; and 3 other pups went to separate homes; none of them New York. Next litter in 2007 was in August; these pups all went to satisfied owners; some repeat purchasers. Not sure what litter DA Sally seems to think she got a puppy from; but my understanding is that there would be none available.
DA Sally says: Because the female I have from her was bred on a contract with another breeder she is wanting her to take all of the blame and I don't even know the other breeder so how is that a help to me.
Jen says: I cry bull-crap!!!! DA Sally is shooting it out her arse; Jeannine De Palma has used only her lines for pups from her kennel except one dog a long time ago; and if you want the story from that one; it's on the FoxFire Farms website. She also doesn't use other people's female's; she allowed an ex-friend to use her stud dog ONCE! The litters 2006-2007 I mentioned above were all produced with FoxFire Farm's dams and one of 3 import stud dogs.
If anyone even remotely believes the clap-trap that DA Sally is spouting on Rip Off Report; I highly suggest you contact Jeannine DePalma directly; do not believe the internet dog politics. You would be hard pressed to find a more conscientous breeder; who health tests and publicizes or makes available for scrutiny EVERY breeding dogs scores and results. You will never find anyone who temperament tests her animals more thoroughly; or publicizes such documents. You will not find anyone who more staunchly defends the breed; is active in rescue and who cares and worries about each and every one of her dogs; they are her family and it is downright EVIL of the dog politicos and their troll friends to drag her well-earned reputation of a highly responsible breeder who cares and does everything right; because they are jealous or don't like her stand-up for her rights, New Yorker attitude.

My wife and I are both law enforcement officers in Virginia. When I first started looking for another dog, I wanted a breed that had a natural protection drive. We had plans to build a house back in the woods, and by the nature of the job and the accessibility of personal information via the internet, I wanted some added security. I started researching the Caucasians, and while on a chat board, one of Jeannine's customers recommended her, and the the CAS breed to me. That began my research. I researched the breed, and looked into Foxfire Farms for at least 6 months before I made the call. I decided to call Jeannine, and find out a little more. I was very surprised at how much she knew about and cared for the breed. There was absolutely no pressure at all to buy. In fact, after a lengthy first conversation with me (on her dime I might add), she recommended that I contact some of her clients, and make the trip to NY to meet the dogs. With many other irons in the fire at the time, a new dog slipped by the wayside. Then, probably a year later, I was ready to seriously look at getting a new dog. I again talked with Jeannine, and decided to make the trip to NY to visit. I was again surprised by how well her dogs were cared for. They are truly part of her family, and often eat better than most people that I know. I decided to buy a FF dog. I got a female, Loki. After 6 months with Loki, I had to have another. I got her half brother, Torksuk. Loki is now coming up on 2 years old, and Tork is almost 1 1/2 years old. Both have been great. Very healthy, and a great disposition. I get compliments on them from everyone that meets them. Everyone in my vet's office has fallen in love with both of them. I can still count on hearing from Jeannine every month or two to check on them, and see how things are going. There have also been times when I've had questions, and she has always been great about answering them. When you buy a dog from Foxfire Farms, you can count on having her expertise for the life of the dog. I have never met a breeder that has put as much time, effort and personal sacrifice into a breed as Jeannine. The CAS breed is much better for her work. If anyone has any specific questions about Foxfire Farms, or my experience, please feel free to contact me

I am the very proud owner of two extremely healthy and loyal dogs purchased from Jeanine Depalma of Foxfire farms. My first purchase was almost 6 years ago and the most recent was about 6 or 7 months ago. Both dogs were and are in extremely good health-mentally and physically. I have never to this day had any health or physical issues with either of them (one male one female).
My experience with Jeanine was and remains to be great. She constantly touches base to checks on her babies and if there are any issues she helps, but again there haven't been any. Before meeting Jeanine I had purchased another CAO from a different 'breeder'. She wound up being some terrible backyard breeder who wouldn't let you meet the parents of the puppies.
Low and behold I had that dog for almost 5 years before he turned on me and tore three tendons in my hand while trying to bite my face. Needless to say 7 of the litter of 9 already been put down for aggression. Jeanine helped me through that situation and earlier on had explained this woman and her types of dogs to me.
I knew what to expect and it was only a matter of time before he attacked me in some way but I loved him and didn't beleive it would ever happen. With all that said, Jeaninie takes extreme pride in breeding all of her dogs and she would never ever release a dog to anyone's care if the dog wasn't well. Nor does she just sell a dog to just anyone.
She would probably be more financially well off if she did! But it's not about the money to her-it's about the breed reputation. This person is wrong about her. Dead wrong. I would swear on a bible about her quality of dogs. I invite anyone to come and see mine. I couldn't ask for better dogs.

I am a Foxfire Farms puppy buyer and I am thrilled beyond words with the dog I have purchased from this breeder. I researched this breed for over a year before I even started looking for a breeder and I researched breeders for another 6 months before I decided on Foxfire Farms. I am a professional dog trainer so I see the fallout from bad temperaments all the time. I don't want the work it takes to turn a problem dog into a good family companion, and the last thing I need is a dog that weighs as much as me with a fearful or aggressive temperament. I wanted to hedge my bets from the start by buying a dog from the best lines, with the best chance of being healthy, happy, and stable. And I am willing to pay for that.
I got exactly what I wanted. Astrid (J-Lo X Cozemo) is the most self possessed, mellow, and intelligent puppy I have ever worked with. She gets along with my family, my friends, and all their various and sundry dogs, of all sizes, breeds, and reproductive status. She has superb structure, a solid temperament, beautiful movement, and is everything a Central Asian Shepherd should be. Astrid has a lot to live up to, as my other dog, a 9 year old Chow mix I've had since she was 5 months old, is also a super solid, highly protective, but not aggressive therapy and personal protection dog. It takes a very specific temperament type to fulfill the role of a sociable, friendly guardian. Most guard dogs are NOT safe in public but I have a very public job and my dogs must be able to deal with that. I also do a lot of backcountry hiking and camping so I need a dog who can handle human and animal predators as well, but yet not aggress towards other legitimate trail users or their dogs. Again, takes a very wise and intelligent dog to discriminate between dirty but harmless mountain guy and serial killer/rapist guy.
Jeannine is a fabulous breeder. She knows more about the breed than anyone I have encountered and she knows her dogs inside and out. She is willing to make the tough decision to not breed a beautiful dog with a poor temperament and she is not afraid to admit her mistakes, but those mistakes are few and far between. She started her kennel with a bitch who has the most outstanding temperament possible (Astrid's grandma, Princess Ali) and has striven ever since to produce dogs with this same level of stability. No dog without it is bred, nor are dogs with poor hips or other health ailments. She doesn't do this for ego or money, she does it for the love of the breed.
I will be buying a male from her in a few years. No one else is even on my radar. It would have been easier for me to go to another breeder, as I live within 3 hours of another large Central Asian kennel, and there would have been no shipping fees and I would not have had to wait as long, but the cost and the money were worth it for the dog I got.

I own 3 FoxFire dogs and I have known Jeannine for almost 5 years now. I am a Central Asian myself and I know what the breed is suppose to be all about. She has produced excellent quality working dogs who also win big in shows. I can prove that with a Best in Show I got with one of my males in a big california UKC dog show. People like Da Sally are just bitter, uneducated, uninformed, ignorant, and have nothing better to do with the spare time they have, which is mostly all day. Jeannine has always looked for quality and not quantity, she only breeds to improve the breed and keep the working, herding, and protection abilities of these dogs in mind. I am beyond satisfied with all 3 of my dogs, they are wonderful. We only go to a few shows and two of my dogs are already champions. I never have to worry about food, dog, or people aggression with my dogs. I was on the list to get a puppy from Jeannine for over a year before she had any breedings and I was able to get my first puppy. Jeannine makes sure that her dogs will have a good home before she sells them to anyone. She totally screened us before we were allowed to get a puppy from her. Me and my wife have visited Jeannine at her home and farm in person. Her dogs are her life and for someone to say she has produced dogs with such problems is just full of it. Bottom line is that Da Sally is hating due to Jeannine's success, reputation and her stand on what is right. Please if you are ever to buy a Central Asian Shepherd dog, No one surpasses FOXFIRE FARMS. Jeannine will always be there for you and you will get all the help you could ask for from her. It has been proven that Da Sally is a fraud and a fake. If anyone out there doubts Jeannine de Palma it is because they are just plain stupid. It is a privilege to Own a FoxFire dog.

This 'rip-off' report about Jeannine De Palma is utter nonsense. I have known Jeannine for eight years. I have a dog from her farm that is 5 years old. My dog is everything I expected her to be and more. Jeannine has been supportive, honest and trustworthy in all my dealings with her. She has answered the phone at any hour to advise me regarding my dog as I was a first time puppy buyer. She honestly loves her dogs and treats them very well.
I recently purchased a second puppy from her. My new puppy has her own personality but is every bit the measure of a stable, healthy livestock guadian dog as is her older sibling. My adult dog is loving and gentle toward the pup. The puppy is a lover who likes to have her chest and tummy scratched. We went to the vet yesterday for puppy shots and the vet was impressed her the vitality and temperment.
I am training her to be a service dog, just as her older sibling is. I took her through Costco yesterday and she was the center of attention in what was a very busy shopping environment. She sat in the cart and sniffed and watched all the commotion without one smidgen of fear or aggressiveness.
Jeannine has worked hard to establish a fine line of dogs in what can often be a very seedy animal sales environment. Her name is good and she deserves it to be. She is protective of her progeny and screens people very carefully before selling a puppy to them. Jeannine entrusts her dogs to only to the most qualified of homes.
This slanderous, ANONYMOUS report is most likely the sour grapes of someone who did not make the cut. A bitter and pitiful attempt to strike out at a person who is putting the well-being of her dogs first. Rejection does sting, but is no excuse for unfounded claims. Furthermore, anyone who feels so strongly about this would step forward and openly accuse Jeannine rather than starting a cream-puff war from some obscure closet of the internet. Every accused deserves the right to openly confront their accuser. Anything short of that is merely hearsay, the stuff of fantasy and whim.
I absolutely guarantee the integrity of Jeannine. Susan.
