I went on the depo provera shot the day after my son was born because the nurse told me that it was the best type of birth control on the market at the time. I got my first shot right then.

Over the next 6 yrs i went every 12 weeks and got my depo shot, not once was my blood checked, not once did the nurse at the Pellcity alabama health Dept. say anything to me about the side effects.

In March of 1999 i went in for my regular visit to get my depo shot. When i stood up to go back i fainted, the EMT was called and when i woke up i was in the St. Clair County Hospital. Thats when the doctors explinted to me that i had a plumanary embolism or blood clot that had went from my leg to my lungs. I spent the next 4 days in the ICU and 3 more days in recovery.

Since then i have been dianoized with asthma, fibromialgia, osteoathritis and have spent many many weeks in the hospital. it has been 6 yrs now and i have more health problems than women twice my age.

I have been told thati will have to be on coumidin (blood thinner) for the rest of my life. There is no cure for what that shot done to me!
Now they put a BLACK BOX WARNING ON THE SHOT BUT WHAT ABOUT 6 YRS AGO WHERE WAS MY WARNING? I wish i had a good lawyer that could get me something for my pain and suffering. i know its probley past the alabama statute but i will never be able to live a normal life again wheres the statute in that?

Thank you very, very much for writing this. My sister has fibromialgia and asthma and i have osteoarthritis and asthma and we both had the Depo shots about 6 years ago.. It really makes sense to me now. I'm upset because it changed my periods forever.. I will either bleed a lot or i wont bleed at all. I'm having problems getting pregnant and have gained weight and are having a problem losing the weight. I cannot believe how they could not tell you the side effect and I am so sorry you have had to go through this too. Good luck to you and your family.

well actually they wont officially say what my problems are caused by, however I have alot of the same symptoms as alot of the girls who complain about the shot. I am trying to find a lawyer myself to help me get justice on what happenend to me. I do feel for you and understand what is happening. This company needs to go out of business. I hope all gets better for you.
