On March 20, 2003 I was approach by a white van on the passenger side, they asked me if i wanted to buy some speakers. I declined, but they were persistant so we pulled into a paking lot on division and 44th in kentwood michigan. They told me some mexicans at the distibuting company threw to many on the van. The were from chicago, the plate was from Ill. It was a full size chevy van, white.

They said they were delivering the rest to Raddison Hotel. I paid $160 for the pair. Well today I just found out the scam. The speakers are tr-1100 Pro home theater series, floor standing, all metallic case. I took the 2 bottom speakers out and they are dummys. The name on the speakers are Theater Research...

They were packaged very well, unopened. This is a huge scam, I believe they are stolen goods that are being altered. The box has been altered, with made up stickers. I got scamed I must say...And am gonna do what I can to see that scum like that gets what they deserve....JAIL...

Needless to say I have learned a lesson, but next time i will know thier scam and will have a little scam of my own, to bring them in.

STAY AWAY from any of these guys... In fact punch them in the face for me... They are RIP OFF ARTISTS. They sell speakers that look REALLY GREAT... I asked if they were hot and they backed up the unopened speakers with a really great line of BS and some really convincing paperwork. They will say call the police blah blah blah. CALL THE POLICE....get these jerks thrown in jail. If I see them again I am gonna get my money back NO DOUBT...

I was also approched by a man in a van in pittsburgh pa.was offered a pair of 2810's by a installer that said he was over loaded by mistake and did not want to take them back to the store(monroville audio).I got the speakersfor 200 bucks trade/cash and was given a store receipt and warrenty for 3400 dollars.

I called the store to register warranty and found they didnt exist! This made me nervous (I had'nt taken them out the box yet). I ripped open the boxes and actually found a pair of speakers (I've seen scams where cons have weighted new boxs with bricks, boards or sand). But still I was wery so I took them apart.

I was suprised to find good components. Carbon fiber midrange,silk titanium tweeter and isolated acordian woofers three way cross over and gold plated connecters. The woofers had a cross over and could be connected seperately. I have a pair of advent B2R floor speakers that i got from best buy (1600)usd.I set up both pairs side by side to compare sound quality.

I was not disappointed the TR's had just as good a sound and in some ways better. The bass had more impact and the highs were cleaner at high volumes. The ONLY NEGATIVE was it took more power to drive the tr's. I've had no problems and am very satisfied with my purchase. Other than the way I bought them.
