I have had MBNA since 1995. Because of my credit score being well over 750, they eventually gave me a 33300.00 credit line. I called one day to check on loan rates, and they informed me they would need to lower my credit line because it was too high. I asked them not to, and they said I had no choice. I refused the loan, obviously.
I closed that card but opened up another card affiliated with AAA because of the lower rate. This card is also managed by MBNA. I received my statement two days ago with an insert stating they were going to raise my APR from 7.9% to 17.98% due to information contained in my credit report.
I have never been late on ANY bill, or ever come close to being at or near a credit line. I called and they made me list my debt and explain why I had it. The only debt I owe is MBNA and less than 5000.00 for some furniture my husband and I bought.
The man agreed to overturn the interest rate increase, but I have already requested a balance transfer to another card and will be closing MBNA as soon as the transfer is complete. They are losing one of the most financially responsible customers they have ever had. I am also telling everyone within earshot about their rip off practices. Read your inserts!!
