The circus from Colonial Life continues, there favorite saying is we need more information. They put me on automatic payment but that only last for one payment then they need more information. They requested more information last month around October 12, 2009 and so I faxed them what they requested andit took another week to process. The payment then took a week to process and then suppose the payment left there office on October 27, 2009 and here we are a week later and I have no money yet. I can't even say for sure that they even sent it. All the checks they have sent have been here in three days. It is either lost in the mail or they simply didn't send it. The lady I talked to yesterday said she would talk to a supervisior and they could send another express, except that would be customer service and Colonial Life has none. They told me today that they can do that and it will take 5-7 business to stop payment on old check and 5-7 business days to process new one. What they don't seem to get is people are depending on that money when you are on disability. The other thing they don't seem to get if they won't have stretched it out this long and paid the claim like they said we wouldn't even be having this conversation. THEY ARE SORRY COMPANY AND GO SHOP ELSEWHERE. I have no other course of action to take except to save someone else the heartache.
I have been waiting for payment from Colonial Life for nearly two months. It will be two months as of the June 23rd. Today is the June 16th. I am not real optimistic that things will get much better by then. If you are looking for disability insurance you might want to consider AFLAC you know the duck. I waited from June 4th to June 15th for my fax to arrive so they could look it over.
It was my medical records they wanted to see. Now they tell me that there is wording on one of the sheets from my medicals that says it is a workman's comp case. That is nice WHY did they pay the initial claim and why would my doctor send them the paper work if they supposedly knew it was a workman's comp. case.
I have never made a reference to this being workman's comp. I guess this is the latest trick up the sleeve of Colonial life "less" insurance company. My employer knows it isn't and my doctors know it isn't but they say it is. If they have any life in them it looks like it is flat-lined to me. I wouldn't give this company another half of a penny.
Why buy insurance if it doesn't help when you need it. I wouldn't believe one word that comes out of the mouth of any of their employees or associates. I am currently concerning legal action because they have left me no option.
I want to clarify something by them saying it is workman's comp that makes them not responsible for the claim. That means I get nothing. That is why they made up the workman's comp case. I asked there operator on the phone last night if he could live two months with no pay check and the phone got quiet.
Then I told them I would consider bring them to court and he said "I hope it doesn't come to that". I said what would you do. The phone got quiet again. My fellow employees won't be buying any more insurance from these people unless they want, but I plan to tell them my story.
I will continue to keep you posted, with future up dates in the mean time I may lose everything I own and I have two small kids less then 5.
