I bought turbo-tax program for $40 and after doing my federal tax, they said it will cost an additional $25 to E-File it.When i bought it i was under the false impression that E-file was included, which it wasnt. anyways i decided to return for a refund. Wal-Mart says that Turbo-Tax will only refund via the Mail in program. It will cost me $5 to send it back priority mail. They know this and figures it will keep people from returning it.

I used the TurboTax website to do taxes for my sister and aunt. It was a easy site to use and didn't cost them one red cent! And they got their refund in a very short period of time. No hassles.
This year many tax preparers opted in for the opportunity for people to have their taxes done at no cost.
Using a search tool, the IRS @ IRS.gov listed quite a few different sites that did your taxes for free!! Of course the RAL(Rapid Anticipation Loan) option was extra.
I myself won't be going back to the barely educated H & R Block offices any time soon. I'll do it myself and save a couple of hundred. I'll just miss getting my refund back the very next day. Oh, Well.
Tax Calculators? They can only 'ESTIMATE' your amount. They're not perfect. I've used tax calcs from all over the 'Net and have gotten pretty accurate results. Maybe you just can't read directions.

I'm pleased that TurboTax worked for you.
Turbotax for the web "doesn't cost one red cent" ONLY if you make less than $27,000 a year, which I don't. And its not a tax "calc" or supposed to "estimate" your taxes, its supposed to do them correctly. Thats what people who pay for services expect.
I would simply like companies to offer customer support and charge my credit card for the amount they say they are going to. Or maybe you just can't read posts correctly.

Hi Denise, thanks for the update.
As I stated in my original post, I NEVER SENT MY RETURN through TurboTax because of the errors, nor did I bother to print it (it gives you that option toward the end of the program--after they get your credit card number)
Thats another reason I was unhappy with the charge.
Although they did take the fees directly from my checking account, I think I can still dispute the charges as you suggested.
As far as the 'real tax' people statement, I was referring to accounting people. I'm sure its more expensive, but I can always ask them questions about my return.
I suppose we all learn from our mistakes.

If you're concerned with being over-charged for fees, dispute it with the credit card company. As long as it's in dipute & you submitted it in writting, you don't have to pay for it. Since you have a credit card, get out a statement, and look for "Billing Rights Summary" or something to that effect.
If you knew that the calculator, that TurboTax provided was wrong, why did you continue in their process?
At the first sign of 'trouble' I would've taken my business elsewhere. Test drive their systems before completing the process. If you don't like it, back up, and start over somewhere else. Yeah, it's a headache, but being aware & knowledgeable of what's going on can prevent future ones as well.
Most people that complain about these so-called "bad businesses" never bother to read the bottom line or fine print. So I say, "That's your own problem." :P
And there's REAL TAX PEOPLE??? Ok, sure, whatever you say.
Better luck next time!
