First I contacted here. Second my husband contacted his visa company and faxed the confirmation of delivery for the (3rd!) cancellation request. Then I contacted the Delaware BBB about them. So by doing all three of these I figured all our bases were covered. Well we just got an email from the Delaware BBB which included an email between them and Auction Monster:
"First of all I would like to apologize to...for the inconvenience this has caused him. In the terms and conditions it does mention a monthly hosting fee charge for his website we do apologize if he never received anything in the mail. He was also emailed the information. Since we do offer 100% satisfaction guarantee we will cancel his account at any time. Based upon his complaint it appears he would like to receive two months worth of refunds. We have honored this and actually refunded all of the charges made on his account. But in an effort to maintain good customer service and referral business.

Their version does not mention the other attempts at cancellation we did with them both over the phone and in writing (only the one the visa has a record of), states an email that we never received, and made it look like they were doing us a favour. But none of that matters now because they have refunded our visa for three transactions and our visa refunded the other one.
