When I signed up for a free trial membership with AOL, I was lead to believe that if I cancelled my free membership before the end of the free trial period, I would not be charged for anything. Approximately 2-3 weeks before my free trial was to end, I mailed in my cancellation via certified mail. I also spoke to a AOL representative via e-mail to confirm my cancellation, since I had not received any reply or paperwork in the mail. I was told my membership would be cancelled on its billing date and I would not be billed for anything.

However, two days after the supposed billing date, October 6, I looked at my bank statement and was shocked to see that not only did AOL Netmarket take $79.99 out of my checking account, but another $79.99 was taken from my checking account by AOL Credit Alert. I have yet been able to get in touch with AOL Credit Alert to find out what happened, but I did speak with a representative from AOL Netmarket. He said that I agreed to some membership that I never received any information on. He also told me that just because I cancelled my membership with AOL, my cancellation did not apply to them and I had to cancell with them seperately because they were seperate from AOL.

I feel that the consumer is being mislead. If a consumer sign's up for a membership (even if it is FREE), the consumer should be made aware of all things such as, what comes with the membership or what they need to do to cancel their membership(s) in order to avoid ANY and ALL unnecessary billing. This information should be sent to the consumer no matter what!!! The consumer should not have to pay for AOL's misleading mumbo jumbo!!! Also, if these memberships the consumer has supposedly agreed to is not part of AOL and cannot cancel the membership's through AOL, then AOL needs to not associate their name with it!!!! AOL Credit Alert & AOL Netmarket have nothing to do with your AOL membership.

AOL has a misleading & dishonest way of doing business with the consumer and I can imagine how much money they have taken from people who are hard working individuals and cannot afford to be ripped off for $160.00 without even knowing it!!!

All enrollment are verified ..I apologize for ant inconvienence

Traci, I personally apologize for any incovienence
AOL NetMarket or Aol Credit Alert hve cause you but I have worked for Trilegiant for Three years now and all of our enrollments are either verified on tape or with a written responce enrolling into our services.

I answer calls every day from people whom are able to call us before the three month trial period to discontinue their membership. If you would like to browse over our web site to actually see that every single one of our enrollments ask you to verify the billing account number that will be charged in 90 days.

As far as Aol itself not cancelling your service when you called and wrote in is a question i have often wondered myself.

If you called Aol Credit Alert I would of been one of those representatives that would of answered the phone and discontinued your service and issued you a creditof 79.99 all of our products are MONEY BACK GUARANTEED .

Again I apologize for ant inconvienence but our enrollments are completely legit

Money was taken from Checking Account

I enrolled in AOL NetMarket for one year. I was at that time that when it was time enroll again I would be sent notifcation that I would have to respond to in order to enroll again. I receive no notifcation nor did I give any response but yet $69.99 was stolen from my checking account! I feel that yes IT WAS STOLEN from me!

If this is the way AOL does business I will be going to a different provider! I want my money back! I don't want any more money taken from me! Last year there was another transaction made with out me knowing, the one credit alert was also taken with out my knowledge.

I let things stay the way they were because I was told that it wouldn't happen again unless I said that I wanted to reenroll which I NEVER DID !!!!

I Hope we can resolve this
Very Unhappy AOL User

Trilegiant and Ocwen together! Beware!

This Trilegiant Corporation is presently doing busines with Ocwen Federal Bank FSB, the bank who is stelaing American homeowners and putting our families in the street. They sent me a Voucher of $40 (I am an Ocwen victim) to sign and return and they are involved in this with this..asking homewners signature to victimiza us big time! You can get rid of an Intrnet Service, but getting rid of Ocwen is not easy...unless you want them to kick your family out. No person with s a sane mind would do businesss with a company related to Ocwen
