I purchased 2 rings(engagement and husband's rings) from Gordons in Feb 01' and my wedding band in Feb 02'. When I moved to Al, turns our they don't have Gordons in Montgomery so I started taking my rings to Zales for inspections. I took it in 12/27/02 for inspection and turns out the wedding band had 5 loose diamonds, so they kept the ring to "fix it".

On 01/02/03 I went to pick up my ring and when I looked at it I noticed 3 diamonds were yellowish-browninsh, so I told the manager those weren't my diamonds and she agreed (she'd seen my ring before). So she told me to leave the rings (engagement & wedding band soldered together) with her.

A few days later I go back to pick it up (again), and the 3 diamonds were replaced, yup replaced with smaller diamonds and the chanel they sit in was all crooked, my ring now looked oval instead of round. Again I told her I wasn't happy with it, because before I took it to them the ring was perfect. I thought tightening diamonds was an easy process. So she said she'd get a different jeweler to fix it.

Finally two weeks later I go to pick up the ring, and the ring looks terrible, still. Yes, the diamonds are now the right size, but they are crooked and the gold covers parts of the diamonds and so forth. The band in not even a year old and RUINED!!!!

I told the manager how bad it looks and her reply was " Well since you bought the ring from Gordons, you might want to take it in to them, there is really nothing we can do about it". REALLY, How about fixing my ring.

I've tried calling Zales and Gordons Customer service and all they can say is someone will call you back.....well it's been 2 weeks and still haven't received a call.

Buyers beware.... Zales is not the place to buy from, especially if you buy the the extended warranty which means you have to keep taking your stuff to them......Trust me it's not worth the headache

I feel Zales did the work on your ring and they are liable to have it fixed properly. You should contact Mr. O'Toole at the texas Corporate office and file a formal complaint. What happened to you should not be overlooked.

Hey, if you buy a car from a dealer and then have it fixed at a shop in your neighborhood..who's responsible? The shop that did the work on your car and not the dealer who sold you the car. Get my point? I had a similar incident with my engagement ring. It was through Zales too. I, myself, will not back down and I will write everyone, organization, etc., about my expirience and i hope you would do the same. Don't let Zales get away with it. That was your ring and it has sentimental meaning.

So, the store telling you take it back to Gordon's is ridiculous because Zales did the work and TRIED to fix it. I wonder what kind of certifications are needed to be employed by Zalesas a jeweler?

If you ask me I don't think there are any real specifications or else both you and I would of been satisfied with our rings. I hope you got your money back for the poor work that they did. Im really sorry for what you are going through and I truely understand how you feel.
