I am a veteran on disabilty income and live in a seniors property in SLC.Utah. I am well educated and have been licensed in 3 states as a general contractor and held a certification as a state certified combination building official. I have been certified to teach a 7 hour risk management cource as a continuing education provider in 5 western states.
I moved into Valley Fair Village about three years ago. I soon noticed sevier safety and code violations, many of which are life threating. I reported these issues to management for over 10 months, but no action was taken to fix the problems. In 2007-2008 I made all my complaints in writting which were sent to the director Kerry Bate. I made a walk-through inspection with Mr. Bate and pointed out over 50 violations.
In 2008 I made many additional complaintsin writing regarding the safety of the 100 residents. Inspections were made by the County Health Department, Fire Marshall and the Chief Building Official. More than 25 serious citations were made of record. There have been some repairs as the result of my continued complaints but the Housing Authority has failed to make many repairs.
HUD's Inspector General is investigating fraud charges against the inspectors of this property. I am seeking to find the reason for false inspection reports being provided to HUD.
The management has joined in a conspiracy with others to have me wrongfully evicted as the result of my attempts to protect the safety of the residents. The Housing Authority is openly discriminating against me because of my "Whistle Blowing"activities. This property has until November 14,2008 to make required repairs to the most recent complaints.
The end result is that this property has been placing the safety and welfare of the residents at risk of death for decades. Housing is taking punitive actions and wants to place me out on the street. What has happened to the honesty and integrity of subsidized housing? The patent discrination against me is of record. I believe there is more than enough evidence for a civil rights action for discrimination.
Some women residents here are openly abusive and aggressive toward men and Housing takes absolutely no action against women. The record is clear that Mr. Bate has refused to answer my written complaints, which I believe is a direct violation of his Official capacity. The question here is "is there a cause of action against Housing for their abuse and discrimination?
