This started with getting lowest quote when i was about to move from NJ to IL in month of Sept 08. They quoted me 868$ for 2 BR apt move. As the quote was very less than other companies, i requested an onsite inspection. Person names "Mike" drops in at my place and inspects and says you have a very small move so the quote is the final flat quote of 868$.
I was happy about it. He assured me tht even if you add more stuff it would still be the same. I was about to move on sunday so had asked them to move my stuff on saturday. Actual mover guys show up on Saturday. After looking at stuff they say it gonna cost me more becausing of packing stuff like glasses and tv, and providing boxes, papers to wrap and sealing tapes etc.
I was zapped i said i had shown all these things to Mike and he said the price wd still be the same. MOver guy calculated and it said it wd be 1400$. I called this guy Mike, but he was left for the day. I was helpless becoz that was the only day left for me. I had to move my stuff on that day as i had to fly next day. I argued with the mover guy that can't they give me the flat quote even after assuring that price won't go up, it has drastically changed.
Now i starting calling Mike asking for explanation. he kept on pushing me not coming onto phone, saying i'm 2 busy, lotsa work. I will provide you discount. After lot of follow ups i finally gave up. This people had really cheated me.
As i had not found an apt in IL, they had to keep me things in warehouse. After finding a place, i called them to move my stuff from warehouse to my new apt. But all i get is excuses. I guess they are not independent companies. I was put thru' a person called Ray Bender. Alwayz i gat to hear that i called up the driver in IL and left a message. he gave me his number to followup with him.
This is ridiculuos, But still as it was my stuff, i called him. This guy does not even return my calls. After 2 weeks he calls n tell me that driver wd drop the stuff on sunday. now sunday goes, monday, tues goes, but no signs. Thehn finally wed driver calls me and says he wd drop it on thur. Finally i got my stuff after lotsa followups, execues and pains.
Looking at my case, I would not recommend Orbit Vanlines movers. Please do not go for company who gives very low and says it flat charge, then increase it like anything. This company is totally bunch of irresponsible people, nobody cares about customers. At first they butter you up till they get the money then they drag you. Please donot think of giving your move job to this company.
