Hello,

I would like to report a scam involving "Security Moving and Storage" who provided an in-home estimate, but then increased it 3 times on the day of the move and never showed up. On top it they took a $20 deposit and never returned it back.

Actual - Never showed up and no refund of deposit

In-home estimate given for $200 for 2 men and a truck for 4 hrs. On the day of the move (Jan 29 2005), I had been calling from morning and every time said the truck will be coming in 2 hrs. Later the person answering the phone, Gergory, said he has only 4 men and a truck for $80/hr for minimum of 6 hrs. No apologies, very rude. Took a $20 deposit, never returned it back.

My name is Brenda Ross I work for customer relations for Security Moving and Storage. I am responding to complaint made by Mr Karthnik. I would like to address the his first complaint that the actual price of the move was not the same as the estimate given. When we sent our estimater out before his he told us that he was not taking everything with him and only showed our estimater certain items that he said were going. On the day of his move he decided that he was taking everything. He was advised by our movers that this would change his estimate and we then put the adendum into the estimate. He made his compaint on Febrary 9, 2005. On the Feb 10, he recieved the check from us (check# 1673) for his $20 deposit. Anybody wishing to see this is welcome to ask me for a copy, your request can be sent to sales@ securitymoving.com . We are a reputable company with a good standing with the BBB. We feel he was treated fairly and was not low-balled by any means. We did apologize to Mr. Karthik for any stress he may have endured during his relocation process.

What's the name of your comapny?

Ms. Ross, don't you mean you work for "A Security Moving & Storage" in Bayonne, NJ, not "Security Moving & Storage"? Security (without the "A") Moving & Storage is an agent for a major van line with several offices around the country, and a good reputation. I would hate to think that they are being confused for your company, which has already had several complaints in just a year and a half of business.

As i responded earlier yes I do work for A Security Moving & Storage. I have noticed that the person making comments on our report is not and has never been a customer of ours therefore I think it is very rude and uninformed of her to make any comments concerning our company.
