In May 2009, my wife did a reverse telephone number search to find out who kept calling her cell phone. The charge was supposedly 99 cents. Then we get hit for a $19.95 charge in June that we just found out about and another one this month. This was supposedly for "identity protection." My wife went online and suspended the account to stop the August automatic draft which was already set to go. I called the Bank of America and cancelled my wife's debit card and asked the bank to send a new one. I will dispute the charges with the bank and see about getting them reversed.

Do not under any circumstances give your credit or debit card number to these people. There are 100's maybe even 1000's of nearly identical rip-offs on this site alone. Do not use this company for anything. They secretly sign you up for things you don't want and don't authorize if you provide them with any information at all. If you encounter their site as a pop-up ad or otherwise, the best thing you can do is click on the red x in the upper right corner. There is no way of knowing what doing anything on their site does.

How to deal with Intelius

If you have been "ripped off" by Intelius, as I was and hundreds before and after me - contact the Washington State Attorney General Office, Department of Justice, it won't take long to have your money refunded to your bank account. The information they provided for that one time $2.95 fee amounted to dust, it was at least 7 years old. I went so far as to look up my mother and sure enough they have information on her, address, phone, job - except she passed away in 1986. I looked up several of my deceased relatives and they were all in there. So, if you want your money refunded, contact the AG. In addition to that, file a complaint with the BBC, Federal Trade Commission, and every consumer complaint website you can find.
They need to be stopped.
