I did a search online for Auto Auctions Portland Free, and found a website that was titled: Seized Car Auction Scams - Do not join a repossessed autos website until you read this article.

It claimed to have found the top five sites to visit if you were looking for an honest auto auction web site to join. I was sceptical because the site had just been made less than an hour ago.

It had five web sites listed which were labeled as:
-Cheap Car & Property Auctions
-Government Auctions Pass
-iCarFinder
-Cheap Car Finder
-American Auto Bargains

I checked out the web sites, one by one. I noticed that on each site (which all appeared to be different from one another), when I clicked on the join button or the sign up button, the exact same window would pop up titled CityBank Secure Order Form (same style, color, and format every time.)

Also the disclaimer reads as follows:
Disclaimer in LARGE text-
Copyright 2004 ("As Seen On" logos and trademarks are owned by their respective companies. The "types" of websites we review have previously been written about or featured by those companies. We have no affiliation with these companies. Also, as we have no control over the content of the "recommended" websites above, we make no representation or guarantee of their quality, lawfulness, or safety. Any recommendations are based soley upon our opinion.

Notice how the put quotes around "types" of websites and "recommended" websites. They also mispelled the words "solely" and "web sites". They read as "soley" and "websites". Also, one of the "recommended" web sites was "Goverment Auctions Pass"..Notice how the word Government is spelled wrong

This may be some type of "sponsored" web site owned by "As Seen On TV." Still, they are obviously lying to us about who they are and by the looks of this disclaimer, they are expecting to rip us off and claim no responsibility. The disclaimer basically says they are not responsible for the lawfulness or safety of any of these "websites".

Beware consumers! The jackers are on the prowl and they are looking for YOU!

I agree and MORE.........

I totally agree with the above complaint. The web site also asks you to join their mailing list and for your trouble they will immediately refer you to a free $20 cash paid survey at "survey club". It requires free registration. When you get to the link after confirming the email it shows at the top of the page at "topsitereviews" that the current survey is $20 cash....found in the members area.

Upon logging in there is NO SURVEY to be found. Only the message that says that once you are updated in their database that they will send you surveys. The members area has nothing but a bunch of refferals to other survey sites for you to join. "partner sites".

Indeed I think this is a waste of one's time and just uses people to make a quota and some money. But never truly pays anyone.

FRAUD.

Buyer Beware

Ok. So it says free, but really, what in life is free?

We owe it to ourselves to spend a little time to research companies before we provide them with our information.

As consumers, we need to be ever mindful of the reality of identity theft and internet scams. Just think, when you visit chat rooms, are you totally honest with people you have never seen? Don't you fudge a little?

We need to assume that we are being ripped off and proceed carefully from there... an investment of a few minutes now will save us a lot of grief later.... use trusted sites like this to gather information before you give away yours. I checked out these people first with Google - all the references were "relatives"; then with Macafee - they got a clean bill but I was not happy because my experience is if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, chances are it really is a duck.

So I came to the Ripoffreport, and voila! Not only did I find this report, but, thanks to the original post, I now know that these people are professionals, who seem to just keep changing their name, dancing one step ahead of the law ... The question is, how do we stop them and others of their ilk?

Thanks Ripoffreport for providing such a necessary service!
