Norm King-Fraudulent Property Manager Swindler renting homes in the Vancouver BC area- won't return deposits. Renters and owners beware! Vancouver British Columbia

In November of last year I let an apartment for 3 nights from Norm King off of Craig's list. Apparently he has 96 apartments in the are he rents long and short term. I was bringing my daughter up to tour UBC. He required a $300 deposit to hold the place payable by cheque only! When I arrived I paid him in cash as that is all he would take. the arrangement was supposed to be that he would come by when I was ready to "checkout" and return my cheque to me. I cleaned the apartment top to bottom as was our arrangement and called him when I was ready to depart. He then said he wasn't coming; calling it"express checkout" and that he would mail my cheque to me. He then deposited my cheque! when I called him the first time he acted like it was an oversight and he would take care of it. After the first 5 phone calls (and not receiving a cheque 3 months later)I insisted that he return my money immediately. He took down my address and stated that he was sending it that day. 1 month later and no cheque! My husband called him and he said he had sent it a month ago. My husband insisted that he stop payment, reissue and send certified and that he would call back the next day for the tracking number. Norm agreed. Then, the next day he claims he doesn't have the money but will "get to it" (which is what i heard the first 3 months). We tried to get him to pay by credit card and he claimed not to have one. He first said he was the owner of the biz, then said he was only a manager, then said they were soon going out of business then threatened me with a multi-million dollar lawsuit!! this guy is some piece of work! He's a crook and he's now harrassing me with emails and phone calls! Don't let this be you!
