first visit to myrtle beach, sc area we stop at a visitor's welcome center not realizing this is not a state facility. gentleman by name of earl offers tickets for attractions. we have been interested in property for extended family use--not necessarily in this area, however. but, we decided we'd take a look. then, earl asks for $20 and sets up a time for a 90 minute tour. like fools, we give him $20.

on 7-2-08 we take a tour that costed us not 90 minutes, but 4.5 hours of our valuable time. we were honest from the start--that we were looking at what westgate offered but would not sign on or make final decisions until we talked with extended family. the rep, tj, was so nice during the tour, stating this isn't for everyone, no ill feelings if we don't join the westgate family. at the end the pressure was horrific. they became nasty when we wouldn't give them our credit card to charge $64,000 to buy into this debt free company's timeshare. tj kept telling us how we costed them $400. how about my precious family time and vacation expenses that have now exceeded 90 minutes!

another "evaluator" whose name is amy comes after tj abruptly departs. my husband liked the accommodations so amy suckered us into a $995 1 week stay in myrtle beach to be used within 2 years. she offers same accommodations that we toured with tj, additional get aways, etc.

returning to our hotel I had second thoughts. we returned to westgate and talked to Zack. he claimed our paperwork was on its way to corporate office in florida so we should call the 800-811-8760 number. he assured us corporate office should work with us to cancel because of timing.

as the vacation progressed we found we were not excited about the myrtle beach area. subsequently, we were in a major auto accident. at this point, our decision never to return to the area was solidified! we've continued calling the number Zack suggested. this is reservation office. the people are rude (and I can't underscore or define rude enough)! we've been told managers will contact us in 48-72 hours--which of course, they never do. one reservationist, Mayra, is telling me if its medical based, send my records to Freddy (and she provide a fax number). i'm not willing to just send any records to any one in this company because they are obviously scammers. i

i'm wondering if ripoff reports or its users have any suggestions for fighting this company, a real corporate office number????

best advice for those being approached by any westgate representative-BEWARE!

thank you.
