Vector Marketing aka Cutco is a legit company however I don't agree with their business approach. You sell to friends and family cheap knives which are supposively high quality but if you do the research these knives are cheaply manufactured. They are stamped knives not forged. Forged is better for those of you that don't know. Stamped is a cheap way to manufacture knives but they are not as durable.

The handles are suppose to be heat resistent but they melted on the side of a hot pot.

Cutco isn't all its hyped up to be and they use innocent college students to get their product sold. Disguised as vector marketing you won't find out until you come in for your interview.

They Are Cutco Knives; My manager during the interview!

First of all, it's hard to believe that two comments would come through on the same day at different point of time and we're supposed to believe it's a coincidence. Don't get your friends to type up lies to cover the company. Now, on another level, the knives are indeed Cutco because during the interview we were told of the company manufacturing them.

They don't hire everybody because there was at least two people who did not get hired that day. I did not continue working there because I did not like the fact that I would have to shell out 300 dollars for a set of knives. I was financially strapped and obviously needed to work to make money, not pay for a job. I later worked at IMA because it was in the next suite over. Don't let me get started on my two week excursion with them...

Anyhow, I work for Alltel Corporation now and life is terrific! If you love Vector's product, terrific. If you don't, go to a store that specializes in top dollar merchandise for a great buck, make terrific food, and don't forget to live. Don't let scammers get you down because their day is coming!

on one they are scaming customer and the other they are not

I have been working for the company for 1 year and I am currently ranked FSM and I do belive that the prices are to high for what you get but, with the fact that you can send it back and have it resharpen and that they last any where from 10 to 40 years it is a good deal and When they say you can only sell to family and friends if you run out of appointment just send out flyers and tell your boss they are family or friend I really can not complane about the company I am in college and make currently $300,000 a month in sales, I deal mostly with other companys and most of the people that complane that it is a scam is because the couldn't cut it at this job. yes the knives are stamped, but they have to have done something with chemical make up of the metal because I gave my friend who is a mechanic the sissors to cut stuff on cars and they have not dulled or broke

Vector turned me down becuase I was too old/educated

After college I was looking for a career and was applying to several places. I came across Vector(don't remember how) and sent them a resume and automatically got a call the same day. I didn't research the company at all but was told it was a marketing job and since my interview was that day I didn't know what to expect.

I showed up and there were 5-6 others there awaiting an interview. I was by far the oldest (23 at the time) and best dressed. Long story short the interview lasted about 30 seconds. I told them I didn't realize this was a sales job because the ad said marketing. I was told that I was overqualified and probably would not fit in to their team. I was shocked, not because I wanted the job but because they obviously wanted younger, impressionable people(cult cult cult).

I now realize after reading several posts why they target the young. They knew I wouldn't jump through their hoops to sell their overpriced crap knives. I wonder if the reason they only sell knives is because most people do not know much about knives, well I don't but I do know that I moved into my house a few years ago and bought a knife set at sams club for about 30 bucks. They have worked just fine.

You are insain

Ok, lets pretend for a moment that your knife really did melt (which is basically impossible from the situation mentioned above). What do you do next, you call up cutco and they GIVE you a knew replacement knife. Forever Guarantee, remember?

Im going to assume you're knife actually did melt, by some fluke. The "high price" that you referred to makes sure that you, as one of there valued customers will be satisfied.

http://www.cutco.com/customer/returns.jsp - Use this page to exchange your knife.

Now i happen to be very aware that there are people selling "cutco" knifes which are fake. Maybe you need to make sure the knifes you own are truly cutco.

If the cutco product is so good why do they need sales people?

Vector tells employees that the product sells itself..... then why do they need you?

The answer: If they sold it retail they would have to cut the price in half to be comparable to the market price. Taking cutco out of the retail market allows the company to overcharge.

I suggest reading the following article to learn about similar companies that take themselves out of the retail market in order to deceive, rip-off, overcharge, and over hype their product.

Cutco knives are GREAT!!

When my neice was in high school (10 years ago) she was employed by Cutco. The entire family thought it was a big joke, but went along with it. She made up her own "persuade to buy" speech, and used it on us. Just to be "nice" we bought from her!!!!!!

WOW!! were we surprised at the quality and durability of these knives! I have been using mine for 10 tears (sending them back periodically for sharpening at no charge). They are truely as the literature states---the best!

Sorry you had a bad experience---find it hard to believe they are "Cutco" knives. I would endorse this company without reservation!!

Cutco is legit and better than anything out there!

It seems a lot of people have the wrong idea about Cutco knives. I am an employee of Vector Marketing. First of all, our knives are not cheaply made. If you REALLY do your research, you will find that each knife must got through a two week long process before perfection is met. These knives are not cheaply made at all! And unlike other knives that only cover defects, Cutco offers a Forever Gaurantee that covers your knife FOREVER! The best part is...no proof of purchase is necessary on the gaurantee. We will resharpen it for free and replace it for free as long as the knife is not misused. These knives may be a bit pricey, but the bottom line is you will NEVER have to buy ANY knives again! I've had customers that have used their knives for 20 plus years and it still cuts like brand new! These are not "cheaply made" knives.

And as far as getting innocent college kids to sell these knives, I am a college student. Not only do I stand behind this product 100%, but this company stands behind me. I get paid very decent money even if you don't choose to buy anything and I am getting through college with ease rather than aggrivation. You can't beat our price (considering the Forever Gaurantee), you can't beat our quality, and you can't be treated any better as an employee anyplace else.
Cutco is not a scam. These knives were designed to be bought ONCE. If a $100 knife breaks, you don't buy a new one. You send it back and we take care of you. These knives can also be passed down from generation to generation, allowing your whole family to never have to buy knives again...and that's all because of one family member who thought a few hundred bucks was worth it. The bottom line is...it would be foolish to buy anything else.
