My husband and I saw a tv ad for Blue Hippo years ago! Im thinking it was in 2003. So we decided what better way to start building our credit (as we were newly married) and get a computer all at the same time. WRONG!!!
Like many in the reports I've seen here, we gave them our checking account info and made our payments, when it came time for the computer to be delivered, we kept getting the run around. I made several calls and was told that yes it was coming they just had a back log thats all. A back log??? I can order a computer from Dell or Gateway and have it in 2 weeks, don't give me that crap.
I finally had had enough, I changed my checking account info and when I was called asking if Blue Hippo had the right info I flat out told them NO and they wouldn't be getting it either. I told them no more monies would be given to them until a computer was produced. I then called the BBB.
It took a little over a year, but the BBB was able to get me the full amount I had paid to Blue Hippo. I was also informed by the BBB that this company had been turned over to both the FBI and the FTC for investigation. So once I had my money back, I thought that was the end of it, I never heard another word....UNTIL.... I just recieved a letter stating its from an Attorneys office (yeah right!) and that I owed Blue Hippo over $2,000.00 and it needed to be paid or there was going to be a wage garnishment!
HA! Garnish this jerks, I called them and stated to the lady after I was transferred 6 times, that Blue Hippo paid me money and that they could take a royal flying leap! I informed her of my case with the BBB, the estimated dates that this all took place, and I told her that if I kept receiving statements like this I would be filing suit against Blue Hippo and her company.
BTW...Blue Hippo is now showing up on our credit report as an unpaid debt, Im going to be working on that one next. So far I have not heard anything back from this so called attorneys office (attorneys do not send out collection letters by the way!). So even if you think you have closed everything with this company, watch out!
