In the beginning of December, I paid this company $1500 to obtain a loan modification on my mortgage loan. They promised me they would be able to shave off $200-$400/month and had a 100% money back guarantee.
As weeks went by, they did not as much as contact me, so I began contacting them only to be told there was a delay with my lender.
I had a hunch based on several articles I viewed online that this business was predatory and would take my money and run, so I threatened to file a complaint with the bank I used to transfer the funds.
At that time (and only that time), they began calling me and promising me everything would work out fine, and it was the normal process, etc.
They even advised me to discontinue making payments to my mortgage company while this process continued.
Toward the end of December 2008, I grew impatient and decided to go ahead and file the dispute with my bank regardless of their promises.
Thank God I did - On December 13th, I received a single line email stating that my bank had rejected the restructure.
It has now been 9 days since they have made any serious attempt to refund the $1500 in good faith, in spite of the fact that right on their website they offer a 100% money back guarantee.
They did, however have the audacity to call me yesterday (after I sent them an email calling them out on their practices), still trying to convince me how great this company is and how much good they have done! Good? Had I listened to their advise, I would now be in foreclosure with NO support from them whatsoever.
If you are facing mortgage trouble, please contact your bank or the help line set up by the FHA.
This company tried to convince me they were a major operation, helping hundreds of people, while it was perfectly clear it's just a fly-by-night operation scamming people in dire straights out of what's left of their hard earned money.

Please read below the report that the individual subsequently sent to the BBB. A copy of the clients subsequent report is below.
A company such as Truman Foreclosure Assistance, that promotes the fact that we are affiliated with the BBB, D&B, Chamber of Commerce etc., is not afraid to address any customer concerns. Fly by night companies don't ever advertise any affiliations, since they don't have any, and do not want to be found once they scam a homeowner.

In regard to the negative comment / complaint I filed on 1/22 against Truman Foreclosure Assistance, I would like to rescind the negative review and cancel the complaint. The company wound up being very helpful in refunding my money and there is no need for further action on my part. I would like to thank the BBB for being such a strong ally in these types of disputes.

I was helped by this company and they got me out of a real mess. They were up front with me and explained to me that it would take some time. I have recomended this company to friends and they also have received the help that they needed. It is unfortunate for someone like this to write this false information about such a fine organization. Truman is helping hundreds of homeowners like myself and was recently featured on NBC as the example of who is doing things right. So to refer one of my friends to Truman and they go to this web site and read the lyes of this person only hurts the people that need real help. This organization has been helping people for over 20 years and this person should ask themselves why they were not able to hold out to the time frame that something like this takes. My perticular situation took 90 days and was resolved as did sebveral of my friends. The fact is that if Truman cant help you no one can. Please do your self a favor and do not take this posting seriously.
