I have been with Avid Hosting for several years. They handled the domains and hosting for all my domain names (that I own). It is common for a hosting company to just handle the domain name as a convenience. I allowed them to do that trusting them as a reputable hosting company.

The owner of the company died. Their services went downhill fast! Their support became VERY inept and UNsupportive. They never resolved ANYTHING. I even have other clients who left them because of their inept support and service.

AvidHosting hosts 5 of my domains and had just left them on one of their old servers that was no longer being used and consequently I had no support ticket area, no way to get a hold of them for any support issues, and any mail to support@avidhosting.com would bounce.

I went on their website to see if they had any other emails and I found support@avid-hosting.com (with a hypen).

I emailed that address and it too bounced.

I finally went on to one of my client's control panel and used HER support tickets to request a support ticket on my own server.

I would get generic responses -- "we're looking into this." Then I'd never hear anything more from them.

So the longer this went on the angrier I got because no one was helping me and no issues were being resolved.

I finally decided to go to a new hosting company. I signed and paid for my new host for all 5 of my domains and requested that AvidHosting "point my dns" (domain name server) to the new host.

Unless the DNS is pointed to the new host, the domain name is in limbo and I cannot upload my site files anywhere -- because a web site has to have a host.

I finally got someone at Avid via phone who accidentally let it slip in the heat of the moment (because they had never told me this before) that I had to go to TUCOWS that they were not responsible for pointing the DNS.

I went on the TUCOWS site and their information says that AvidHosting handles registration and renewals, DNS NAMESERVER CHANGES! So without Avid cooperating, all my domains are in limbo.

And here is something else they did. I recently got a new domain KinannConstruction.com (before all this started) and they gave me the option of Avid handling the domain for me along with the hosting. I figured that was okay, but I never thought they would actually put the domain in THEIR NAME and charge ME for it!!

So I have been paying for KinannConstruction.com which is my family business name, but AVID STOLE IT FROM ME!

All my other domains are in MY NAME PJ Kinann or my other business name Bay Area Contractor
but unless Avid points the DNS and releases the "registration service provider" to my new host (Hostmonster.com) the domains are no good.

I had an ongoing issue with AvidHosting about their support. I ended up with so many support tickets that they finally moved me to a new server, but were still more unresolved issues. I couldn't resolve any of them and Avid was NOT resolving them.

That is when I decided I'd had enough. Then the nightmare began. I wanted my DNS pointed and no one would do it. They just said "we're working on this" but then I'd never hear anything back.

I ended up sending so many support tickets and finally getting LIVID with them that they wouldn't point my DNS for all my domains, that they stopped answering my support tickets all together.

And when I called them on the phone and tried to get a fax or the owner's name, the guy who answered David Gool said he refused to help me after the support tickets I put on the control panel. He flat out said -- I'm not helping you anymore!

I explained that this all started out NICE but I wasn't getting ANYTHING resolved! so I just became more angry with their support.

He didn't care. He said he was NOT helping me anymore!

As a consumer, I have EVERY RIGHT to be angry when Avid REFUSES to help me and they are holding all my domains in limbo.

I would like to know what I can do to get them to just point the DNS from Avid Hosting to HostMonster.com and give me back my domains!They are MY DOMAINS. I own them!

I would also like them to return my KinannConstruction domain to me. I have been paying for it, but they put it in their name.

They suspended my account (and now my websites say: account suspended) which for business accounts looks very derogatory for any potential client visiting the site -- it looks like it was "suspended" because maybe we don't pay for our hosting. And that is so far from the case here.

I paid DEARLY for this hosting company. They just helped themselves to my bank account every time the hosting fees were due.

So payment is NOT an issue. My domains in limbo are the issue -- AvidHosting not pointing the DNS to Hostmonster.com and giving me back my domains is the issue!

And check it out -- AFTER I cancelled my services with them, they actually BILLED ME ADVANCE BILLING for all my domains' hosting for the next month of $110.

I need them to RELEASE ALL MY DOMAINS AND POINT THEM TO HOSTMOSTER.COM

AvidHosting.com has now verbally REFUSED TO HELP ME! they were smart because they haven't put it in writing -- but when I call they tell me -- they will not help me. And they hang up on me.

AvidHosting.com is still ripping off people -- another complaint recevied

AvidHosting.com is refusing to release a domain to one of my clients because, and ONLY because, she is using me as the web developer.

This is unethical, unprofessional, and fraudulent for AvidHosting.com to continually KEEP people's domain names because of a dispute.

My client wants to go to another host, and AvidHosting.com will not release the information needed to manage her own domain to her simply because she is doing business with me (her web developer).
