Globat was hosting 3 domains for me. Their service was poor and their technical support was absolutely dreadful. I switched all 3 accounts over to Lunarpages, who are much (much!) better.

I emailed Globat to cancel the accounts, and they had me cancel the accounts on their Web site, which I did, and they sent me confirmation of the cancellation. In all cases, I cancelled before the end of the period I had payed for.

Now, about six weeks later, I received a call from a collection agency saying that Globat billed me $335 dollars on the accounts I cancelled, and then sent the bills to collection!

I called Globat, and the woman I spoke to confirmed that I had correctly cancelled the accounts, and could not understand why I had been billed, but said she did not have the authority to reverse the charges. Then, I got email saying that I had not cancelled the accounts early enough (more than 15 days before the end of the period I'd paid for) and therefore would have to pay for another year or two!

I never made any agreement or arrangement with Globat for any recurring charges or automatic renewal -- but I understand they've been losing a lot of customers for the same reason they lost me, and this is their response.
