Kohls Dept Stores Gets rid of Whistle Blowers and Ethical Employess, Kohls dept stores Covers up terminations of Star employees. Hired by Kohls Dept Stores as a Store level Loss Prevention Associate, Quickly promoted to new higher producing store, Shortly after promoted to Higher volume store and make a 200% increase in shoplifter apprehensions, Kohls terminated District Loss Prevention Manager (B.G.), and promoted DLPM Cesar Cruz from upstate region.

Upon the arrival of Cesar Cruz,His racist and Sexual comments begain. Also his comments begain about lack of productivity in the 7 Kohls Stores in the district. Even when Store 417 Massapequa had a 200 % increase in apprehensions with only 1 store security associate , vs last years 3 associates managing an embarrasing 33 cases for a 12 month period. After being injured on a work related injury, ( recovering Kohls Merchandise from a Professional shoplifter), I informed the dlpm that I would be needing to attend Physical Therpy and doctors apointments, Mr, Cesar Cruz became very upset and said " What good are you to me"?, He then begain to make my job very difficult often yelling and berating me infront of other Associates, My calls and complaints to Corporate went un investigated, Mr. Cruz had also begain doing similiar to other Lp Associates who did not "go alonge with his routine", I was then informed that if I was going to go on workers comp my employment would be terminated.

I was then terminated by DLPM Cesar Cruz, and LPM Danny larossa who is now with Saks 5th ave in the Long Island District Managers Position. After my termination 5 other Lp Associates have left for several reasons, Leaving the one time Highest Producing LP Dept in the entire company, Shorthanded and useless. The following suffolk county Stores have been unstaffed due to the fact of the practices Kohls have demonstrated as well as their illegal and unethical practices.
0417 Massapequa
424 Bayshore
0516 Rocky Point
0376 Deer park
Melville
Ronkonkama
0379 Shirley

I guess Kohls can afford to have a untrained or no staff in the following stores going into the holiday season. I have emplored the others who have met with similiar situations to file rip off reports as well and will be posted shortly after this one. Kohls Fitting room and other "special Apprehensions" border on illegal as well, and I have had serveal law suits in this region in the past 2 years which have been "settled out of courts"!!!! I have worked for several retailers in the past and rate KOHLS the # 1 Worst!!!,

Kohls Dept Stores unethical , Sneaky and employees Management who are clueless!!!,

Response to RipOff Report

I have been in Kohl's LP for a couple of years and I'd like to say that none of this information is accurate. Kohl's investigates any and all associate complaints and doesn't turn a blind eye to it's associates. Kohl's associates are very high on the list and it is evident on the special sales, pizza parties, and prizes (for doing a good job) that Kohl's associates continuously receive. I have seen Kohl's investigate complaints from associates on the smallest problems.

Also, the original poster stated that he was responsible for a "200% increase in shoplifter apprehensions", this is not hard to do and it happens many times there are LP turnover. Some LP's are more focused on operations while some LP's bust out 20 cases a month. It all depends on the person. Generally, Kohl's likes to focus on operations as much as apprehensions, so I'll take the lack of mentioning operations as a testament that you weren't as good at your job as you claim.

The fact that you would be willing to mention locations that would be unstaffed (LP) leading into the holiday season is an indicator of your immaturity. I too had LP jobs where I left with a chip on my shoulder, but never would I attempt to sabotage my former employer by posting their weaknesses on a public internet page.

I would also like to mention the "several lawsuits settled out of court" and the "borderline illegal" fitting room apprehensions... what is illegal about a fitting room apprehension? Kohl's does not have video equipment in the fitting rooms, and all stops are made because the suspect is known to have stolen the merchandise (I will not go into details). Also, an LP would not be informed of pending lawsuits from sister stores in the region. That information is between a store LP and his/her supervisors, and stats are not distributed telling how many there are and how many were "settled out of court"

In conclusion, the original poster is nothing more than a disgruntled employee who probably couldn't complete his assignments and reaped the benefits of it. I have never been reprimanded although I have made mistakes. I learn from them and move on.

True

This is very true, I worked for Kohls in Loss Prevention, and everything you state is done company wide. I worked in Texas, and everything you say is common place. I was not fired, but I could not continue with a company as such. However, I'm not angry, I just got another job. What you state is true though!!!!

MN LP GUY

Plymouth
USA

My experience as a Kohl's LPS

I worked in one of the higher risk Kohl's stores in the MPLS/St Paul Metro. I was hired by a DLPM that was more or less what I would call old school. He wanted you to get your audits done, stay on top of things but still snag as many lifters as you could. He would even step out on the store front and help you get it done.

Shortly, after he hired me I was exceeding expections but on a bit of a learning curve because in many ways Kohl's is not retail lp as usual and few take the time to actually train you.

My boss was transferred and the new guy (who will remain nameless) made it known, I got paid too much, he didn't trust me and that he would make it his mission to take me down. What changed? I was still working very hard and blowing the doors off with shoplifter stats. He said offcolor and inappropriate comments to me all the time but at the same time, would infer that since he was higher on the food chain and I was already on his list that I would keep my mouth shut. As each day passed, he would lay out a different scenario that could potentially result in me getting fired. But the odd thing was, there were no grounds for these hypothetical discussions because I did nothing wrong.

My office was usually a blazing 100 degrees and although, they speculated on how they could fix it all the time nothing was done. One July day, I couldnt take it anymore, the temp in the office, the micro managing and continual attempts to keep me on the ropes and antimidate me, I punched out and left early. My mistake? I didnt tell anyone.

A few days later I am interviewed for suspicion of theft of time. I freakin punched out early, how is that an indicator of time theft? In the same discussion, the outragous office heat problem came up again, and he speculated again on having it fixed.

Shortly thereafter, the rumor was all over the store, that I was stealing time and that the Mgmt should keep an eye on me. Then one day while completing an LP related project on the salesfloor, an associate, not even a member of mgmt, walked up to me in front of other associates, questioninng where on earth I was all day.

I got all my personal affects, walked to the timeclock one last time, punched out and left. I decided to go to work where I wouldnt be harrassed, victimized and crucified in front of the entire store while putting in my time and striving for excellence. "Expect Great Things."
