Uhaul, Ron Wilson, Manager; Kim, the storage lady; Jan, The District Rep; Cynthia, Traffic Control ripoff! They cut off the lock on my storage and put on their own, and they tore through my stuff. Sacramento California

I have had a storage for 4 years at this facility and about 3 weeks ago I went to get out my professional clothes to look for a new job. When I got there my lock had been cut off and there was a single lock with a uhaul tag saying see office. So Kim the storage lady comes up and says she doesn't have a key it was done my the District office. So not having bolt cutters on the property!! (Right) The hitch guy comes up and cuts the lock when we opened up my space the whole thing had be ramsacked, raped all the boxes opened everything dumped upside down etc.

Kim loaned me a lock and gave me a number to call. I called a left a message, the next day when I went back to take pictures my storage was doubled lock again. I call the office and was told they wanted there lock back so I went and bought alock and came back and took pictures of the raping. I called the number back since no one returned my call and I got Jan the District Coordinator she informed me that I had better be careful accussing her employees of anything. fun they left there calling card twice.

I have tried since that day to get one person to listen and help me at uhaul even called Az. Finally I got someone in a different district and she took down my info to forward only to inform me yesterday that she wasn't in my disttrict. gave me a number to call and left another message for Cynthia with no reply. This is getting old. I am contacting the Az office today and then I am not sure where my the local TV stations. I got raped by the employees of that facility and they think it can be ignored.

I feel like this is deja vue

I recently experienced almost the samething from a UHaul Storage Facility in Tacoma, WA. After almost 6 years of paying storage fees, I return there to find out my lock was cut off and replaced with a Uhaul lock and my items stolen. Uhaul has done NOTHING to assist me and the insurance company they have flat out told me that unless I can give them a name of an employee that stole my stuff, I am not getting NADA from them. It is not MY Job to play detective. When I read that Patti also had this happen, I knew I was not alone. Did they ever pay you Patti?

I lost over $15,000 not to mention the almost $5,000 I paid in storage fees just to be robbed.
All Uhaul cares about is how much MORE money they can steal from me. This company is a disgrace and robbing the consumers and getting away with it.

Okay, I've had plenty of storage spaces and even if I didn't have to get anything out of it, I would go check on it every now and then. Joe, he is not talking about raping a family member of yours, so spare us your stupid rebuttal! And the fact that you say its just stuff shows your stupidity!

Now, if you people with storage units have really had that much property ripped off or RAPED...GET A LAWYER and take them to small claims court! Don't let them RAPE your personal property and get away with it. You people had a contract agreement to sign, did you read it closely? Is there any breach of contract on your part? Did any of you miss a storage rental payment? Things happen for a reason, so if you were truly ripped off or RAPED like joes family members, and think your in the right..>GET A LAWYER!

Get a lawyer for your RAPED belongings, it is not right for someone to FONDLE your things and FINGER around your stuff unless you were ASKING for it, like Joes family member.

If you people are that worried about things, it is no wonder they have gotten stolen.

What comes around goes around. You have no right to talk about Joe's family members or anybody who has gotten raped that way.
There are more important things in life than THINGS, if these THINGS meant so much to you why have them in storage???

Geez, dhave a family member hold them for you or a friend but don't put it in storage, use some common sense...

And to Joe I am sorry you have had to be subjected to all of this nastiness. Some people just have no manner's.

Standard Practice in Storage Industry

I manage a self-storage in Arizona and work for a management company not affiliated with U-Haul.

Generally a landlord is not liable for damages to a tenant's property. This is so ingrained into storage company personnel that most of them do not understand that there is one big exception and that is when the landlord himself causes the damage.

It's a fact of life that some lockers get broken into. If the storage facility had your current address and telephone number they should have notified you if they had found your locker unlocked. The fact that they took no apparent action other than to put their own lock on the unit is suspicious. Many chain operations have enormous turnover of personnel and it is quite possible that one of the low-lifes that U-Haul often hires plundered your locker.

It does not sound like you are going to get any response from U-Haul's management. The only way to get their attention is to file a lawsuit.

It is a violation

It is a little bit more extreme than what happened to Patti but I had an arson destroy my apartment and then when I went back to see if anything could be salvaged found out I had been looted. To Joe, speaking as someone who has gone through both a physical rape and a metaphorical one it is a kind of rape.

To know that someone has gone through your personal belongings, pictures, sentimental things thrown about like they were trash. It is a violation. I know they are just things but what about the rare pictures of my mother (who has passed) or the precious afghans she made, Pictures of my babies ect... destroyed by vandals and thieves. I felt just the way Patti described when it happened to me.

I don't agree with bashing Joe or his relative but Joe was way out of line as well.
