    ...the right way!
    Corporate Advocacy Program
I adopted a dog through PAWs for Pets program that adopts animals out every Saturday at Petco in Beaumont, Texas. When my dog got loose, I informed PAWs and they told me they would alert volunteers to be on the lookout. 2 weeks went by and I received a phone call from a man claiming he found my dog and brought it to a woman at a local business in my town. This woman just happens to be a volunteer with PAWs. I was NEVER informed from the volunteer or PAWs that my dog had been found. The only way I knew she was found was when the man called to tell me who had her. When I approached the woman, she claimed that she was now the legal owner of my dog and that I had breached my contract. No proof of her accusations, no proof of her "legal" ownership, just confirmation that she did in fact have my dog. I had the dog micro-chipped, and the police confirmed that I am the legal owner of the animal, but said they couldn't get the dog back because of the womans claims and that I should seek the advice of an attorney. I was informed that no person can possess legal ownership of my dog without me signing my rights over, but this organization is corrupt and and misleading. When I called them about my missing dog, they saw an opportnity to find and re-sell my dog to make more money, and they did just that. No amount of legal documentation will stop these people from doing what they wish with these animals. I have alerted media outlets, newspapers, and the general public in any way I can to let people know that this organization is SCAMMING people. They are called PAWs for Pets, also known as Pineywood Animal Welfare Society. Please be warned that if you are looking to adopt an animal, do not adopt from this organization because they will take full advantage of you and your money.

Doesn't make sense

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

Why would a guy who found your dog, and apparently had your information, give your dog to a woman at some random business.  Then AFTER he gives up the dog take the time to call you?

Violation

AUTHOR: gr8ful - Vidor (United States of America)

I am a volunteer with PAWS and know for a fact that this lady is in violation of her contract.  She has threatened to sue us over and over again.  We are patiently waiting to hear from her lawyer.  I believe everyone has their right to voice their opinion on certain matters but to slander an organization that is out to help animals is just to much.  We do NOT make profit off any of our dogs that we adopt out.  We do this for the animals NOT for the MONEY.

Adoption

AUTHOR: loverofthetruth - Beaumont (United States of America)

It has been my experience that when you adopt a dog through a non-profit organization there are certain guidelines that must be followed. You must have violated something or they wouldn't be so adament to not return your dog to you. Was there something you missed? Have you talked to an Attorney? If you are truly not in any violation then why won't they return your dog. Reading about this organization and asking questions tells me that they do not sell dogs. They adopt dogs. Is that what you did? Or did you buy a dog? If you are just a lonely house-wife, sitting at home with nothing else to do but rant at this non-profit then you must be really bored. Get to the bottom of the truth. Where are they? Go to them. Ask them, nicely, what happened instead of being full of a bunch of hot air. You would probably have your dog if you did absolutely nothing wrong. How long has it been? Let it go.

I agree with consumer #1. You aren't telling everything. Is there something you are leaving out?

Dear "volunteer"...

AUTHOR: Jennifer - Orange (United States of America)

I find it very ironic that you (and I'm well aware of exactly "who" I'm talking to here) being a volunteer will take the time to defend yourself online but never actually pick up the phone and call me, the owner, who paid YOU and never heard from you again. All this "talk" of violations but no proof. Threats of legal action, but nothing to back it up with. Why did I never have my calls returned or answered, explaining to me anything? Why was I never mailed copies of anything proving my contract to be void? I paid you the adoption fee to take the dog home for a "trial" week and 2 weeks went by and no one ever called to check on the dog. I had to call YOU in order to let you know I wanted to keep her and have her micro chipped. It also states in the contract that that adoption isn't complete until someone from the shelter comes to see how the dog is coping in his/her new environment. I had the dog for just at 4 months and that never happened. So apparently you are taking people's money for these animals but without notice or warning will snatch them back up whenever you please and make up stories in order to try and convince the OWNER that they did something wrong? I also am fully aware of how long it takes for a dog to become infected with heart worms and show up on a blood test and you know just as well as I do that I did not have that dog long enough for her to have gotten it from me, so if your accusation is true, that simply means you sold me a dog that was positive for heart worms and you neglected to inform me. I signed a contract that stated the dog was up to date on all shots and if there was any indication that she needed treatment for heart worms that she already HAD that was not made aware to either my husband or me. I'm sure you are also aware that heart worm monthly preventative will not cure a dog that already has heart worms. So, I am still waiting to receive your phone call letting me, the owner, know that my dog is found and alive, (since I had to find out from a complete stranger that my dog was not dead in a ditch somewhere after getting loose from my yard) and also explaining to me exactly how it is that I am in violation of my contract when you have chosen not to come forward with paperwork proving anything. Until that happens, I will continue to make the public aware of what could happen if they decide to open their home to an animal in need from your organization. Don't think for a second that your selfishness and lack of compassion has gone unnoticed by God. I tried to do something good for an animal in need, and unfortunately I picked the wrong organization to go with and not only was I taken advantage of, but so was that sweet puppy. Thanks to you, my other adopted dog is now without her companion. Don't think I have not seen the pictures and comments about my dog on your personal facebook page. I guess dog hoarding chihuahuas is the new thing now.

Rant on Jennifer

AUTHOR: loverofthetruth - Beaumont (United States of America)

That is NOT Tina you are talking to. I promise you that. As a matter of fact I am certain that she will be on here soon and introduce herself to you. Seriously, why won't they give you your dog back? I have checked on the background of this group and they do not sell dogs. And, please can't you just state the facts. Dang you are long winded and I have to admit it's too much ranting. Do something about it. Stop talking smack.

Lies

AUTHOR: Jennifer - Orange (United States of America)

Hmm...maybe Wendy then? Doesn't really matter anyway because there are SO many people who are aware of what has happened and will continue to find out in the months and years ahead. I'd love for Tina to call me and explain herself. Maybe answer as to why she lied to me and my husband about having our dog in the first place, just to change her story once we had the man who found our dog walk in and confront her. All this comes down to is pure selfishness because she wanted the dog for herself, especially since she knew the dog from before I adopted her, and the man who brought her the dog had no idea who the dog belonged to. If I were guilty of anything, why would she have hesitated to tell me she had the dog in the first place?
