I signed up for a membership with Peak fitness. Abc financial is their company that collects the money. They did not tell me that I signed a 2 year contract.
I assume anything longer then a year they should at least let you know. the contact is pretty long and I did not see any dates.

besides that if I missed a payment the next month they would take out 2 payments at a time, plus a late charge. at one time they took over 150.00 out of my account without authorization. THey told me this was legal for them to do. they told me that they have full control over my credit card. when I told them that I did not authorize them to use it anymore. they kept using, saying they would keep using it until I paid them.
I wrote them a letter cancelling my account and got no response.

The dates of your contract should be on the front of the agreement, pretty unmissable. Review your copy of it. While you're at it, review the paragraphs that state that you authorize the billing company to draft your account for any amounts you are liable for. Did you think that when you missed a payment that they would NOT charge you two times as much the next month? Plus a fee for missing the payment? That's pretty standard practice. And they DO have your authorization to take fees and payment out of your account. While you're reviewing the copy of your contract, check out the section at the bottom where your credit card number is listed. The section that is entitled "Preauthorization for Payment", which you signed.
