This is my report to #125449. I live in Michigan as well
Got burned out in my old profession and needed to get another education so I ask for info and got thrown into the boiler-room practice of AIU admission. After that well…. 3 tests posted on my student site per 90 minutes to stay in the program (which I pass), locked out of the class-room because some wit at AIU failed to due there job (had to signed and fax a promissory note on a Sunday no less to get back into class-room), and paid extra to clep out of 3 basic classes.
The 10 main classes for my degree in criminal justice where legit as the professors as well (researched all of them).
Started in 2003 and graduated with a 4.0 in 2005 from AIU. After years of networking, interviews and what have you I gave up. I am not talking about the classes but the admission, advisors and people to help you gain employment. What a crap full of elusion and scams.
I ask a lot of question about employment and got nothing but lies. The degree is helpful to people that are already working in some entity of the criminal justice system and I am not one of them so therefore this degree is no more then a piece of paper. No, I am not the only one. 70 % of the students that graduated with me are not employed in that field and moved on as myself with more schooling in other areas just to pay back there student loans, or still continue working in a dead-end job just to make ends meet only with the student –loan adage in form of thousands of dollars
Today, I am in a profession that is fulfilling and pays enough to pay back the mess AIU created for me. The only draw back is the unbelievable high price $ 37.000.00 I have to pay back for a degree I cannot utilize.
Due your research/employment search and look what is required before you enter into any higher education. In this case if you are not a police officer, sheriff, or work for the court/correctional system you are OUT!!!!!
I went to the A- General, the BBB and even complained to the Government since I have been compleatly over-charged by these rats and I have yet to hear from any of them with a solution to this problem.
BTW, correctional officer/ security people are not requiring to have a degree in this state and they work for a bit more then minimum wage.
$37.000.00 later, wiser and in a totally different profession I have a bachelor degree from AIU that I can hang on the wall which NOBODY cares. And I don't hang up my degree
Good luck
