Paid 6905.00 including a 150.00 enrollment fee...school trying to refund only 6095...refund amount should be 6755.00.

On April 15, 2010 I enrolled in Boca Beauty School in Boca Raton, Florida for the electrology and laser hair removal courses which were to begin on June 14, 2010. On May 24th I contacted the school to withdrawal from the courses and was told I would need to talk to Jesse Knight. I left two messages then on May 26, 2010 I talked to Mr. Knight who informed me that I would need to send the withdrawal/refund request in writing. I sent the letter the same day by certified mail.

Since that time, I have contacted the school many times and finally emailed the owner of the school. I patiently waited for my expected refund which has not arrived and it is mid August. The total I paid the school by personal check is $6,905.00 to Boca Beauty Academy, 7820 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33434 (561) 487-1191, the owner of the company is Jack S. Bragin, Chairman & CEO Boca Beauty Academy, LLC

The contract states: C. If a student cancels his/her enrollment in writing by certified mail beyond three(3) working days after signing, but prior to entering classes, he/she will be entitled to a refund of all monies paid to the school less a registration fee. In addition, extra costs, such as books, student kit, equipment, supplies, finance charges, uniforms, etc., which are not included in the tuition costs and are separately identified, are non-refundable. I did not receive any books, student kit, equipment, supplies or uniforms or any contact from the school prior to start date.

I did exactly as the agreement states and expect a full refund. They emailed me with the settlement amount of only 6095 and told him I may have to get an attorney and he said from now on I would have have my attorney speak to his legal council only. I did exactly as the contract states for class cancellation and expect the school to refund my full tuition promptly.

The owner only wants to give me $6095 but he should be giving me a minimum of $6755. Unless they are willing to refund the total amount of $6905, I am only liable to pay the registration fee of $150.00. I told them the minimum expected tuition refund that will be accepted is $6,755

Company Response to Consumer Report

AUTHOR: Integrity is our #1 Priority - boca raton (United States of America)

Our institution of higher learning always aspired to adhere to the highest levels of ethical conduct. Nonetheless, the consumer , in this case, failed to comply with her obligations as defined in the Official Enrollment Contract which she signed.

She located another school closer to her home and then attempted to demand her money back. However, she never complied with the proper requirements to withdraw from school.

When the school attempted to be professional and accommodating by simply charging her for the non-refundable administrative fees which she had already incurred- she responded by threatening that she will retain an attorney. At that point, it was elevated to a legal matter and regrettably, no longer could be amicably resolved.
