I was conned into going to ITT. The first few weeks were very uplifting. I felt as if I was going to be something, and do something with my life, Just because of ITT.
I intended on working hard for what I wanted. I didn't mind taking out loans. I didn't mind driving 45minutes to school every day. I didnt mind changing my work schedule to be at class on time.
I started to notice things were somewhat "off" about this place, when my teacher showed up 10minutes late to the first day of class. He did this repeatedly through-out the 1st quarter. I remember one time he had even admitted to us that he used to be an alcoholic.
I still let it slide and continued to learn the material. I might have missed a few days, but I did my best. I noticed how unproffessional they were, when I had gotten to class, to find out that class was delayed an hour because of a Krispy Creme doughnut eating contest. I left, went to walgreens, came back to school. Ate some food. Sat in the hallway, and when 7-o-clock came. The teacher was still late.
I feel so rotten for paying 15k for one quarter (40k for 2years my a$$). I have a measley 2k loan. My mom can't even refinance her house because of the loan. What type of school makes you sign that you are going to go to the school for TWO years, on the 1st day. And if you void the contract, you forfeit the money for the two years. Why should you have to pay for a year of schooling, if you left 1quarter prior to that year. It's rediculous.
I also had a teacher that taught math. I could not understand him. Sometimes i would record the class, to take it home and reteach myself the material.
This is an IT school... right? We contribute 20k a year (so they say). Why are we using out-dated programs like 98 and xp? I was in CNS *computer networking systems, and the programs from one of the classes was 03 edition. If i pass that class (which i did) and get my associates degree. If I go out and work for a company . . .how are they going to look at me when I tell them that I know visual basics 03 version. I mean, it's almost 08. And in the IT feild, you always have to be up to date. They should be teaching us ahead of what the feild is doing. If not, teach us what the feild is doing, not what the IT professionals did. Am i wrong?
2nd Quarter, me and a student sat there tallying how many Vietnam war flashbacks the teacher had in the middle of his lectures. Turns out he was never in Vietnam.
My rep M.W had told me that she went to ITT Tech. "It's a really great school. I went here. I was a student myself, and now I work here. "I went into school today (30min early) To give her my findings (27pages of the rip-off report). I asked her how much commission she had received from me attending ITT. . . She said she doesnt get commission. Yet ex recruiters report that they do. I told her about all the lawsuits pending against the ITTs all across the country. She was flabbergasted. She had no clue to what was going on. She was "shocked".
She said she had no clue all this stuff was going on, and that she wouldnt work for a company that did this to people. I asked her "I thought you would know, being that you went to ITT" According to her, she had never said that , and that she meant it in reference to chicago to california. She supposedly has a degree from Loyola and had never went to ITT.
I worked my ass off in many of the classes. While the guy next to me, took 30minute breaks, arrived an hour late, left an hour early, didn't do any of the homework. Yet he still received an A. Even he was shocked. I had a C.
All the homework in the classes were based off of Microsoft. All the tutorials were based off of microsoft. If you didn't finish them at school you had to do them at home. I told the teacher, I cant possibly go home and do the homework, cause I have a MAC. Don't you think it's kinda wrong. To have all the homework based on one Computer. Assuming every one in the class has A pc? He ignored me.
The final project in my Visual Basics class was to be done on a MS,, bacause it only works on MS. The project was to be done at home. I don't know about the other students, but i didnt have a copy of Visual Basics at home. And they said they weren't going to give me one for MAC. They said I had to get it from one of the other students. Supposedly there was A DISC circulating somewhere. Last time i checked. if they had gotten audited by Microsoft. They would be fined. For uploading the same program from one cd onto dozens of computers.
One day I had my fiance sit in the class, cause I had no time to take him home. He just so happened to be an IT Consultant. I felt so ashamed. He questioned," I see you have an online library, that's pretty cool, but if you think about it. . .isn't the internet an online library in itself?" I was speechless.
Even wondered why we still used a metal bi-wired antenna for the TV's.
I was ashamed.
I had gotten tired of sitting in class, paying attention and learning nothing that I had already known. I had gotten tired of watching the teacher (who probably wasn't even certified to teach) go off on a tangent in class. If i pay for a full class, then class shouldnt end almost an hour early.
It was my fault for signing up for ITT. It was my fault for not researching them before I had enrolled. It was my fault for putting my mom in debt. But I personally don't feel that I should have to pay for Year 2, Especially if I didn't finish year one. And personally, I shouldnt have to pay for quarter 3 If i only attended the 1st day. The class is a rip-off, and you could take some classes at Harvard for what you're paying.
Education is not their number one priority. They lied to me. Took me for a ride. 40k for 2years, yet my bill for quarter one says I owe them 15k. Even if they stuck with the pricing. I'd still leave. I mean. My microsoft teacher is a major in THEATRE.
I need to talk to an former emplyee of ITT TECH, any will do. Better if you worked at the Burr Ridge Campus. I have a lot of questions. I'll get out of paying for what I didn't use, even If i have to jump on the band wagon for CLASS-ACTION Lawsuits.
