As a current student, I have to agree with -S. So far all of the instructors I have had have actually given us the questions and answers to the exam questions. From what I see and hear, I don't know of any student who is not on the Dean's List or the President's List. You have to try to fail. You have to remember that Lamson is a "for profit" school, so they are not about to fail a student they lose money when a student leaves the program for any reason. The instructors are only there to pass a student on, not to teach them anything.

Here's a funny, frightening, true story that I witnessed myself. A young girl in the program even though given the answers to the exam, still continues to get 50-70% on exams (she admits she "doesn't care). You would think that would cause her to have to repeat a section, but "lab" counts equally (40%), so here is her chance to redeem herself to pass the class. During her "procedure"in lab, she actually dropped the suture on the floor, bent down, picked it up and put it back on the mayo stand, thought nothing of it. Even though the instructor saw it (along with all of us), he then laughed at it and she proceeded to get a 100% on that "procedure". She got a B in the class. What a joke to the rest of us who are trying to actually learn.

I'm trying my best to learn all I can and make the best of a very bad situation and decision I made months ago. At this point, all I can do is my best and hope for the best.

I was told about this site a few weeks ago, I've read the posts and the responses, but I guess I've just gotten tired of reading about how the students are always wrong, critical, or expressing sour grapes.

I am a good student (President's List - for all that's worth), I go to class every day with a positive attitude, and am doing what I need to do, but I have to agree, I wish I had researched Lamson more. The whole program is a farce. The instructors are worthless. I'm doing my best with what I've got. I only hope that when my time comes, there is actually a hospital that I can get into to really learn...I know that's not the hospital's responsibility to "teach me", I should be learning that at Lamson, but I can only hope.

I read someone who said "bottom line". As a current student of this program, I want to say that I'm sorry that I signed up with Lamson. The education I'm receiving is poor at best. Like I said, I'm trying to make the best of a bad situation.

If you are researching schools for a surg tech program, DO NOT consider Lamson. Don't believe a word that you are told. It goes far beyond extern sites.
