Checking over the extra billing on our phone bill, found a charge of $4.75 for a collect call to a line only used for Internet use.
Contacted OAN Services at 800 295 3933 and after a brief phone tree (stop offering Spanish, damnit! This is the US!), as woman came on and solicited billing info which she quickly found on their system.
After I explained that there was no one to accept a call on that line and the claimed calling number was unlisted so I couldn't even determine how the individual managed to charge a call to us, the rep. told me the charge would be credited back to our local service provider.
If only a few thousand people daily ignore this kind of phony charge, it makes for a pretty nice income.
Where is the FTC? The FBI? This is interstate fraud and should be under scrutiny by the feds but they are too busy fattening their wallets at our expense.
